AMC Entertainment’s new APE securities — AMC Preferred Equity Units – began trading on the NYSE. The story behind the latest "retail play" by AMC CEO Adam Aron has a dark side.

So many people clearly misunderstand the purpose of ape. Ape is a tool to make shorts who have not covered yet pay out of pocket money. For the benefit of those who are new. Shorting is when you borrow stocks from somebody, sell them immediately, in hopes of buying them back later at a lower price. To be clear the person you bawled shares from only expects their shares back not the value that they were when you borrow them. So if you borrow them at 10 and sold at 10. Then you were able to buy them back at 8. You could then return the shares to the person you borrow them from and have a $2 profit. Now that that's explained. Some people have borrowed shares. They sold them immediately. But they have not bought them back and return them to the person they borrowed them from. Well these individuals now have to go out and buy ape shares to give to the people they borrowed the shares from. Because the original loner of the shares is entitled to these ape shares. The current new holder of the shares will also automatically be given ape shares from AMC. What this means. For every single shorted share that has not been closed. Two ape shares will have to be generated. One will be given to the person who currently holds the shares. The other one will have to be purchased by the shorter who has not covered yet. To give to the original lender of the shares.
the 40% drop was due to regal cinemas declaring bankruptcy
Thanks unsubscribed because the entire stock market is rigged & if u disagree u shouldnt be a stock youtuber
Good luck i used to watch all your videos & there was no reason to say what u did
Remember who was the biggest pumper of palantir & look what happened to those who listened to you and invested in pltr?
Last i checked im up on my amc investment but most pltr investors are bagholding because of your videos
I have made intraday shorts on big pops on amc over the past weeks, over 20k so far, its the easiest day trade I have ever done… now with AMC falling the short potential and constant SSR additions to it, have been a littler harder than usual . . . but now there APE…. fresh intraday candy…
Yeah where not stupid we can read to we know fully what APE is. From what I heard here you really know feck all about AMC or the board or what’s been going on in the entertainment industry.
Most in AMC are long time winners or losers either way.
Yeah, because palantir was such an amazing investment 🤣🤣 Be quite mate you’re a door knob when it comes to investing.
pltr has 70% retail ownership as well 🤷♂️
bored ape more like it just a different NFT
Shareholders did not approve of any or the original APE shares nor were they even told of this before it was announced by AA and management. APE shares were NOT free to AMC shareholders AMC share price was reduced by the opening price of APE shares, I think it was around $7 so on Monday AMC shares were reduced from around $18 close on Friday to $11 opening on Monday, I don't call that free. Its a stock dilution and the AMC shareholders voted against any dilution a few months earlier. And its not 1 billion APE shares they made 5 billion APE shares and they have about 500 million more ready to be issued anytime management wants to. This dilution muddys the already murky waters of the AMC short squeeze situation and gives shorts and brokers ammunition to fight off the squeeze. I think it pretty much eliminates the giant squeeze, its possible it may squeeze up to $100 to $300 maybe. AMC benefitted from retail investors saving the company bolstering their operating cash probably over a billion dollars. AMC just had the TOP GUN MAVERICK box office run so if they need to rip their shareholders off to pay off debts after taking in so much money their business model is just not profitable anyway and continued ripping off retail investors will not be of any good in the long run anyway.
At this time, buying a lithium or nickel mine would make more sense than buying a gold mine.
Lots of folks have a nostalgia for their favorite theatres, so they are not wanting it to die. But even if the stock dies, the cinema will live on. Chapter 11 means financial restructuring, but they will stay open. It's been announced. So it won't go anywhere. Don't confuse stocks with the business.
I have to say Tom, talking about the "woke mind virus" really takes away from all the logical things you actually say. Woke mind virus is right wing news propaganda. Times change, and what people find acceptable changes, that's all it is.
Ape gets to $10 debt is replayed. It’s cash positive if they have no debt! Check the financials. Then the short thesis is done. Yes this is a cash cow and they stated that in the same size print as the rest of the document it was t smaller. Apes asked for a way to help AMC to repay the debt AA just gave them one. They get what they ask for and then people complain! Crazy. It’s genius
Well at least you have videos talking about what is going on in China, but you fail to mention all of the institutions that loaned shares to these hedge funds are using China investments as collateral still. The hedge funds are too. They are ramping up tbeir attack on AMC because we can HODL another year. The hedge funds can't survive what is coming from their deep haircut. 😉 We hold we win.
You may not like what they are doing, but it is genius. If you look at the number of shares they can issue, if APE rallies a lot (which it will), they can get out of debt or close to out of debt. That is the job of Adam Aron.
Tom, I hope you answer this…
I have several brokers in which I held AMC before the record date, and I have family in Europe who also did (and do).
Why are we still owed xx,xxx shares of APE? You said we received them.
We have not.
What about proving that there are synthetic shares out there??? I’ll give it more time.
Tom, I always appreciate your videos (in particular im still hoping your take in PLTR is right as I am in the same boat there). Regarding AMC it seems you are ignoring one the main thesis of the amc movement regarding naked shorting. The APE shares are also there to force shorting hedge funds to buy an excessive amount of APE shares due to their naked shorting activities of AMC common stock. If they dont, supposedly the naked shorts will be revealed in Failture to deliver data at one point if a majority of the owners dont sell APE early. Even if the shorting hedge funds get to buy APE shares from AMC directly instead of retail investors, if AMC play it right they will have money to cover debt and whatnot and then the next time another dividend comes up it will put more pressure on the shorting hedge funds to cover their initial AMC common stock shorts which would then give the short squeeze. The best case scenario of course, both stock moons due to shorting hedge funds having to cover.
Some are only there for the squeeze then get out. I want AMC to diversify and show more foreign films, private events, show other events like pay per view so that you don't have to crowd a bar. And any more ideas. In the meantime, it seems that Hollywood is starting to wake up. WB canceled Batgirl. They saw the success of Spiderman No Way Home and Top Gun Maverick were. Netflix said this might not be the right place for you to work if you want to be woke.
Please do your homework first before rushing to do an amc video. We the stakeholders asked for this to expose how many synthetic shares are out there. Will it pay off is the the only question remaining.
Naaa. Meet Kevin talked about it
I agree with you Tom
bye
Hey Tom how much did you get paid by Citadel to spread this fud?
Go buy more pltr and stay away from amc
And what was your obsession with $PLTR? All of the stock market is gambling. Win some, lose some.
Tom, I’m very disappointed in this video. This is not about the fundamentals, it’s about teaching a lesson about manipulating the market.
His prority is his company and he is going to do everything to save it. I think people need to open there eyes his a business man. He thinks like a businessman and he will make moves like one. His past behavior already told us what he was all about. I don't like the idea of Ape(if he wants to make more money he could sell different products at his theaters why use keep using us.
Notice that the buying pressure is now on APE (not shorted) not the shorted AMC common stock. AMC common will hit $5-$6 and shorts will cover. Bottom line, short squeeze is dead courtesy of APE.
The purpose of investing is to make money, i think it's stupid but you (and myself) missed out on a huge opportunity. People laugh at those making these trades, not sure why if they've become rich over it.
Tom I love gambling 😂
That's what hedge funds do right gamble with other peoples money
