What's up everybody welcome back to the channel? Today's video is going to be about the American Express retention, offer that I received now guys make sure you like share and subscribe. But let's get right into this video, alright guys. So I tried to do a video for you guys outside, but the wind just wouldn't, let me be great, I feel like the wind knew.

I was trying to record a video and it's like alright. Let's just stop: let's get Walter like as little wind, because every time I tried to record my part after the introduction it just kept the wind kept long. It was just it was too much. So let's just go right into the video again guys.

We talked about travel, credit, finance and all that good stuff. The more we reach the more we could teach alright, so a card American Express up and with everything going along with the travel bans, it's just really hard to justify paying for a premium card. Now I get it guys.

Some people will continue to pay annual fees because they love the company. They've been there through the bad times. They were probably there in oh wait and they got better. I get it and I feel the same way, but I also just kind of wanted to see what I could possibly get.

You know, Carlo up American Express with this situation. So what I do is that caught American Express up. I have the Platinum card and I had the green card, so the green cards only $ 150 per year, not worried about it, but the Amex platinum card renewal, it's 550 a year right so you're really right. Now, I'm not going to get those benefits.

I'm sure by the end of the year we'll be back flying again and I'd say maybe September October. Everything should be okay, hopefully, and that's just me being really positive and leaning it and I'm hoping you know before the summer time. But anyway, I caught up Amex and pretty much total. What I told you guys and not pay five.

Fifty a year for this card haven't gotten a retention offer in about a two years or three years. Keep that in mind guys, if you just got a retention offer last year. I think it's every other year or two years before you can get a retention offer from Amex. I got one about two years ago and there wasn't as good as this one this one.

I told him hey look due to the circumstances and my renewal coming up. I think it's June 14th or July 14th, one or the other. I believe in June 14th, we're probably not going to be able to travel and most of my travel credits, uber and the airline it's $ 400 right there. You know I try to kind of break it down with the annual fee out of 550.

There's gon na be really four hundred dollars of that 550. I'm not gon na find valium and of course, I found valuing the Saks credit and all that good stuff, but $ 400. I'm not going to find value in and that's what I do not to mention Hilton status, Marriott status. You know the casino status matching guys.

I've done so many videos definitely go through my channel, but you can get a if it's a good year without any pandemics at least 1200 to at least a thousand to 1200 hours per year. You know dependent on how you travel and how you live. As far as travel is concerned value every year - and I pretty much told the rep that was nice - wasn't disrespectful no need to be disrespectful in these times that or at all in general. So she talked to me and she said.

Okay, I understand, and I told her just simply had an axe were of attention offer. The key thing is, I did not ask for a retention offer, though I knew that that was my reason for calling. I just said I want to cancel the card or you know downgrade to another green card. You know because you can't downgrade to a credit card, so maybe just give me another green card, or maybe let me just cancel out the card.

I also put in there that you know they. What they're worth are gon na try to hit you with. If you don't have more than one membership work hard is that if you close out your car, you lose your membership reward points, so I kill with that. Already, I said: listen, I have the gold card, I'm sorry, I have the green card, so I'm not gon na use.

I'm not gon na lose Mercer award points. I'm okay to cancel like I've already thought about it. The accounts had zero, like I'm ready to just finish it and she said okay, she was like you know, but before I close the card, I want to let you know about this lucrative lucrative offer. We have for you for a retention, and I do not act like I didn't know what it was okay.

Well, what is it, and you know, tell me more about it so pretty much it. I had two options. I put up this effort. It's been a long day.

I had two options: okay, the first option was, I can get a $ 300 statement. Credit or I can get 30 thousand membership reward points all right. Now you can get a lot more value than a one-point per dollar, so I chose 30,000 reward points to get more value because again guys I'm going to transfer those points out to travel eventually and with how low and how bad everything is. I can probably get a really good travel deal for sure, and all I have to do is spend $ 4,000 in 3 months now guys.

I know that sounds like whoa, but it's not that bad and I'm sure almost all my viewers live on their own, where I live, it's at least a thousand at $ 1200 to $ 1400 per month for a apartment, that's just what it is, and the Philadelphia Like that's just what it is over here, it's expensive up north! So that's easy! You know that's literally two or three mortgage payments for some people, maybe three rent payments and then obviously your other little bills. Car insurance card payment groceries like all the stuff that you're going to spend anyway, I mean that is just it's easy. It's doable and I've in two months, so I told her. I obviously yes I'll accept because that's what I was looking for anyways so guys, I'm not telling you that to go ahead and take advantage of American Express you know, but definitely call to see what these companies are doing and also just keep in mind.

To always reevaluate your situations like, if you know, you're, not going to be traveling in the next year or two. Why are you spending five 5000 on a card that is mostly geared towards travel and call those companies to see what they can do? For you, I mean these companies know that you know people change their. You know regardless, if it's something happening in the world or something happen, and personally our financial situations change frequently it changes all the time so keep that same mindset don't keep bills just sitting there recurring every month, every year, etc. If you're not getting your value from it like, for example, Jim or Netflix, if you know you're not watching Netflix or going to the gym, don't have no subscription for nothing so they're, just literally getting money from you think the same way with these these cards.

If you're, in a situation where you're - not really you know, traveling fall back, see what they can offer you and then make that decision if it makes sense, I definitely took the offer I've already spent since this morning about $ 1500 on the card. So I got about 2400 hours more, which is gon na, be easily done within the next month or two that's best, no problem, four thousand dollars. So I mean what do you guys think about it?
