What's up, everybody welcome back to the channel, so today's video is gon na be about the American Express Platinum Card versus the Chase Sapphire reserve card. These two cards I know for a fact - are highly debated, always compare. We have pros to both. We have constable.

Let's get into it, I'm gon na tell you which card one of you two pros. We need to cons. Gon na tell you like what you know, the comparisons and I'm let you decide on which card you're gon na give ricard you're gon na pick it and I'ma pick my two: let's go right into the video before we get into the video. I haven't get a lot of comments talking about the microphone in this sound hi guys.

I got you right now. Don't have the microphone the microphone be here in about two days, but I wanted to make sure I put a video out this week for you guys. So I hear you loud and clear. There was some type of an issue with the microphone that has so I've trashed it it's garbage, so I'm gon na speak as loud as possible.

So please bear with me for this last video as far as sound. Hopefully, I'm talking loud enough, so you guys can hear me on this video without any type of issue. So let's get into it right. American Express Platinum Card chase that fire reserve car.

So the first thing we want to talk about. I want to talk about the signup bonuses. Okay, so right now the signup bonus for the Chase, Sapphire Reserve card is fifty thousand chase. Altima reward points if you spend four thousand dollars in the first three months: okay, so that four thousand in the first few months is on a higher side.

So you can really, you know, maximize and really get help from other people. Maybe people you trust. Maybe you know pays rent mortgage car sorts, maybe if they got any bills, they have to pay big bills holiday times coming around the corner or vacations, something that they can pan fool. They can really help you out, I'm something that you can pay it forward.

I can really help you out to maximize to where you get that four thousand, how to spin American Express Platinum Card. You get sixty thousand member Civil War points if you spend five thousand three months, so it's even a little bit more challenging. Okay, you got us from 5k and three months getting the same process. We need to try to find something or really try to get this card when you need to got something big to pay, but you can afford to pay in full, so you're not going to enter any debt or if you have people that you trust they can Afford to pay these things, so you don't want it either again.

The goal is to get these bonuses without any interest, because then you really do value your points. Okay, just kind of it kind of defeats the purpose of getting a sound, a bonus if you're gon na be paying it back for purchases. So again, if you spend 60-thousand on the first five months, sorry, you spent five thousand in the first three months for AMX platinum. You would get 60 MRP now, let's get into the point valuation.
So, if we're looking at the signup bonuses and this points, valuation is just strictly from the points guy so side to him. Both of these at this point in time are at two cents per point. So if we look at the sign up bonus for chase for the $ 50,000 sauna, 50,000 point signup bonus, that is a thousand dollars worth of money or dollars towards spending and again that is going to really value or differ based off of how you redeem those Points always probably more than likely best to redeem through chase or also chance for to one of chases portals, so airfare, etc, and the same thing with American Express two cents per point. Now again, the membership reward points on a bonus is 60 K, as opposed to chase with the 50.

So you're valuing this sign up when I said $ 1200, so in that instance, you know obviously Amex wins as far as the much the money I'm going to get from these silent bonus, but you do have to spend extra grant to so they kind of even Out it really is a you know, pick your poison. Can you spin 5k right now or you kind of barely hit in 4k? The value as far as points is the same two cents per point so again sign up bonus. If you can spend that extra 5k extra thousand go out, go ahead and do the AMX platinum card to staff report evaluation, so they really kind of equal out in that instance, as far as annual fee is concerned, did shave sapphire Reserve comes in at four hundred And fifty dollars, the AMX platinum, comes at five hundred, so a $ 100 difference, chase, wins and nests. As far as the cheapest one American Express went as far as the most expensive, but you can't was asked to win so in this category.

Chase wins for sure. 100 hours cheaper and the points are really value to the same. At this point, okay, this set the third option. We're going to get in is lounge access, so when we're talking about lounge access was talking about airports so, for example, with Chase - and this is what the Sapphire reserve offers just Priority - Pass - selects Priority Pass, select a bunch of there used to be restaurants, but unfortunately, I'm sorry so Priority Pass select is pretty much a bunch of restaurants place.

You can go to eat, they have these in airports. Most of the time go, get a or some some beer go. Get some alcohol go. Do some nice food get some fruit? Some beverages? Maybe you know, but Priority Pass, select, restaurants and Priority Pass select, lounged actually have like bottled water, so you can take some of that water on the flights and things of that nature again open bar most of the time.

You know each is different depending on where you're gon na be at one of my favorites are at the club. I love the clubs. My favorite one is the club in Atlanta Hartsfield. You know Atlanta Airport hardest with the club at atm and International Terminal.

Upstairs my favorite one, so that's what Chase offers just prior to pass the lek American Express offers Priority Pass, select two restaurants, centaurea lounge, which is exclusive to a max platinum card holders and Amex black card holders, Sky Club Delta Sky Club access. You have to be flying Delta, though, in order to get into Delta Sky Club, they also offer escape lounges. Now I've done priority past lounges. I've done centaurian lounges, I've done Sky Club lounges aren't gon na escape lounges.
If I'm ranking them, I'm really hard to rank. I would say I can't really rank them, they're kind of all the same. I like, I would say, Delta, probably last, because I'm typically coming with somebody and dust you had to pay for your extra person to come and you got a flight Delta right. So I'm not flying Delta.

I will be beneficial, I would say maybe my favorite is Centauri Lounge if priority pass escape the hajeck cetera. So sensorial knowledge is probably my favorite, because i know i'm going to get in with at least two people without paying anything. But i really have a good time now, let's get into the actual perks, okay, so when you're, actually talking about swiping your card and things of that nature, to really kind of bring this annual fee down platinum card $ 200 of airline credits, 200 over credits $ 100 Saks Fifth Avenue credit - that's broken down again, so that airline credit is given to you set off the back, use it for baggage, incidentals et cetera. The uber credit is broken down into 15 dollar increments per month, and then they give you a $ 35 credit in December, just good and the hundred-dollar sec.

So if I have a new credit is given to you increments of fifty dollars you get January through June July to December you can buy us up the first 49 and some change and you know, get a credit for fifty dollars and you can do that twice. So that's what I've been doing. I'm again, I don't shop at Saks exactly, but since the perk was given to them definite gon na, take it and use it I'll buy some shoes. This last girl - and I brought maybe some shoes - there was like 60 bucks - ended up paying an extra $ 10 when I was buying shoes anyway, so a pair of shoes for 10 dollars.

You can't beat that. Okay, you also get a 100 dollar Global Entry. Slash TSA PreCheck credit, which is really awesome, so Global Entry is for outside of the country. You come back in.

You don't have to go through that long line. I pretty much wraps around every Airport. You go right through exercise. Screening, you're, a known, traveler and TSA PreCheck is pretty much when you're in the United States.

You want to take your shoes off, you have to take your belt off. Those lines are getting longer and longer, though, so you might want to look at other things like clear or things like that, but typically not no complaints, Samson with Chase Priority Pass, select, so the hundred other credit or Global Entry, whichever one you want to do, but Make sure you just go ahead and Global Entry, Global Entry comes with TSA PreCheck, Anglo per entry for a hundred dollars, but you're not going to pay for anyway. Then they give you a 300 statement, credit for travel purchases. Now the thing about Chase, as opposed to Amex Chase, is really bra.
It can be taxi, it can be trained, uber, lyft. Whatever other way you can find travel an airline. You can use them all at once, which is awesome, so if you want to buy a ticket at our airplane, our airline for $ 300, you get that credit right away as opposed to American Express with their credits summer broken in you know, monthly. Some are given to you right away.

You got ta kind of really be Amex kind of forces you to really kind of just kind of chill out supposed to chase it as give it give it all to you, but Amex gives you more perks as opposed to chase. You only get $ 300 in travel credits and that's pretty much it along with the Global Entry every four to five years. Now, let's get into one thing, that's really big. A lot of people always talk about travel protection.

Travel protection is a big one and it kind of makes sense. You know this, I think travel protection really is the biggest thing that maybe will turn somebody off from the MX card or time somebody onto it or try. Somebody fall from Chase or somebody fall into it. Let's get in child protection.

So when it comes to the chase card, they give you primary car rental coverage. Okay, so you're gon na get primary. You can get a roadside assistance. Emergency, medical and dental trip.

Interruption trip delay, baggage, delay, okay, so that's chase. Let's get into American Express you're gon na give secondary carvanha coverage as opposed to chases primary roadside assistance damages luggage lost luggage, emergency transportation, / emergency evacuation. So there was like an emergency evacuation or something like that. So that's the biggest difference right there chase primary.

It makes it secondary and then trip delay trip interruption that really helps so, if you're booking something to chase when that chase card you're gon na have that coverage. If you book something on Amex, they don't have that coverage. Okay, let's get into earning potential. Our net potential is really big as well.

This is when you're gon na get your everyday use out of things. So when it comes to Amex, you're gon na get five membership reward points on the flights work directly through image travel or through the airline directly you're, also going to get five membership reward points on prepaid hotels, booked through Amex travicom, one point per dollar on all Other purchases, as opposed to the Chase, Sapphire Reserve three points per dollar on travel, three points per dollar on dining worldwide, one point per dollar on all other purchases: okay, so, as you can see, Amex five x travel. Pretty much. You know.
Flights booked directly to you makes travel calm booked through the flights directly like their website themselves, 5x on prepaid bookings, 1 % back on everything else chase three points per dollar and travel and dining worldwide 1x1. Everything else, so I mean we're looking at really, you know chase pretty much is giving you the all around a little bit in a sense, as opposed to American Express to strictly just travel. You know in a flight or hotel, it's not going to be final points per dollar, at least for chase. It may be only three points per dollar.

We need to go on to eat, but nine times out of 10 you're gon na be dining more than you travel or if you're traveling, you are dining as well, so you're gon na get more value out of that, maybe using your chance at our reserve car Now one of the things I'd like to talk about is the miscellaneous section, and what I mean by miscellaneous is this something that I kind of like to pick on? Maybe some cons to both of them. They really help to kind of figure. This out Chase has a rule called 5:24, which I'm a victim of right. Now I'm actually 824 right now, so I'm in there and I can't get out and pretty much there's, no there's, no there's no way to get around that they were trying to apply for a chase card.

I just tried to get the IHG car and I tried it. I don't know why I just thought it was gon na be something different. I'm a minute, a client. I had eight cards in the last 24 months.

I call it the reconsideration, I'm nothing. They could do so if you've opened up five or more credit cards with any carrier within the last 24 months. You will automatically be declined for certain cards and there is no workaround for that. You caught a reconsideration line, there's no workaround for that.

That's pretty much! It so I'm gon na be getting these other videos telling you can get approved for any card and the world. If you follow these steps, blah blah when it comes to 524, just not happening okay, so that's chase 524. So if you're really gon na be trying to do this travel hacking get your chase cars out the way first, get your IHG. Sorry get your Hyatts get your Chase Sapphire reserved shape and I preferred go ahead and get those out the way.

First, because once you're over 524 is really no blowing back, and so you come under that you got ta wait as far as American Express they have. This thing called Financial Review at any given time for any particular reason of American Express he's having some type of change or maybe sees you as a risk. Now, what these reasons are, I don't know I don't have access to, but if you guys know comment below American Express, they can just do if an interview without freeze all of your accounts, they will ask you to send in financial documents and they'll freeze your account From any purchases until they review and if they think that you are good to go they'll unfreeze and that you continue spending, if they think you are a risk, they will more to likely cancel out your account and stops to spin stop spinning indefinitely. And that's a really big scare too, so you really want to make sure if you're on an app you're, not checking that preset spinning them a button to kind of seem cool that I know could possibly turn into a financial review really like high spinning out of Nowhere it could possibly turn into a financial review things like that.
But again I don't know 100 % exactly on that too much. So if you guys know more about Amex Financial Review definitely comment below if you're gon na. Actually, what my pick is: I'm gon na pick the Amex platinum card, though I dunno I'm letting go of trip, delay trip interruption, so I'm really playing with fire if something gets cancelled, I'm more big on the luxury side of things so, like Hilton, gold status, Marriott Gold status - you know things like that and I really didn't even mention in this video that American Express offers. I chase really.

Doesn't you know so the MX platinum car offers you go status at Marriott's Hilton. You know you get statuses that rental car places. Those statuses can actually go over to other places like casinos and Windham, and I got a complimentary trip at the bottom and the Nassau Bahamas. All stemming from American Express is platinum card, giving me Hilton gold status.

So it's just so many things that American Express gives to me. I really find value in in the long run they give me more of I read in the annual fee. That makes sense when it comes to chase chase. To me is more so of like a well-rounded card.

They want to give you, I don't wan na, say well, run it all away 360, I'm gon na, say more rounded than American Express Platinum Card it makes platinum card is strictly travel. Sapphire sapphire Reserve is more. You know you know again: you're gon na get three excellent. Dining.

Are you getting? Is a three hundred dollar credit and for travel purchases? Three excellent dining and travel worldwide, TSA PreCheck every four years, but you're not getting anything else. I mean you can probably pass select, but recently those are really hard to get into if it's overcrowding, the things that I nature, there's a back-up plan, there's no gold status at hotels, there's no over credits, there's no sex with Avenue credits, things that I need sure. I, like I'm, the more of the luxurious traveler. I like that luxury.

There are times where I can be cheap. Of course we all have those times, but for me all around at this point in my life in the lifestyle I want to live when I'm traveling a max platinum motorway. So guys, what do you think? What is your favorite card? Which card? Do you pick? Do you have both and if so, why again, having both parties, you know it's really awesome to so I mean what you guys think. Did you find this video helpful? If so, give me a thumbs up and you want to see any more comparisons in the future? Definitely, let me know more would be more than happy to do them.
I hope you guys enjoyed this video and again a microphone will be coming within the next video, so stay tuned. The sound would be much better. You guys have a great day at thanks to them. I'll see you soon.

This video was SO helpful! Iโ€™m trying to get into the very frugal beginnings of travel hacking, and this helped me decide on chase! I was heavily leaning towards AmEx before this, but you made me realize I need something more well rounded and at this point in my travel budget I probably wouldnโ€™t get to take the fullest advantage of the specific AmEx perks like hotel status. I would love to know more about the different priority pass options for either card. I felt like that confused me a bit.

Financial review occurs when your credit limit reaches above $35,000. You will need to provide income proof before accounts return to active status.

Walt I've been waiting for this video. Yes sir! Hahahaha! But yea man, you did an honest comparison to both cards and I appreciate that. I knew which way you leaned but you still provided a great analysis and that's very much appreciated.

In addition to what you've already mentioned, I'm going to give some additional love to Chase and Amex (can't believe I just typed that, LOL!). If one is on the fence one additional thing I would consider that would case me to lean more toward Chase if your choice of airline. American dominates in my area but I have to say, you'll thank the Chase god when dealing with American. They are NOTORIOUS for delays and last minute cancellations and the protection you get from Chase will be used 10x over…trust me, you'll be thankful you have it as American is just, well…they kinda suck. Also, if you value Hyatt, Southwest Airlines, or United, Chase may also be a better option for you.

On to the Amex Platinum. Let's just admit it, Amex has probably the best customer service in the industry as it relates to credit cards. They're easy to work with and I like that I can hop on chat and get things done and that just isn't an option with Chase. Even the message system that Chase has is kinda old and dated…and replies can take anywhere from hours to a couple of days.

The return protection when using the Amex Platinum is also nice…and easy to use. I would venture to say that Amex has probably one of the best return policies of all the lenders. I don't place any value on the Uber credit as I don't Uber and UberEats have fees that are just ridiculous. Not to mention, most of the stuff is fast food which doesn't stay hot very long so most of the quality in taste is lost on the amount of time it takes the driver to get it to you. However, if you do use Uber for the ride service, you can't beat the monthly credit as it easy to use.

But one credit I will give to Amex and the Platinum card that most miss is Amex offers! Hands down, Amex Offers is the ABSOLUTE BEST. I get so much value in points and cash from those offers throughout the year that I would probably offset the annual fee with that alone and that's if I NEVER used a 5x category. Amex kills everyone in the game with those offers. The best you're going to get from Chase is the same crap offers you can get from your debit card at your local Bank of America or PNC.

Lastly, if you fly out of a Delta hub for most of your travels, The Delta SkyClubs are awesome. I would venture to say that they are just maybe a cut above the Centurion Lounges. Nothing better than going to an airport that has a Centurion Lounge as well as a Delta SkyClub because you know that all of those Amex Platinum members are going to mad dash the Centurion Lounge leaving the rest of us to a nice and peaceful experience at the SkyClub.

So yea, you've pointed out the pros and cons of each. I know you lean Amex Platinum and as you know I lean Chase. They both are great in their rights but I travel a lot more (a little over a 100 nights a year) and American is my company's preferred airlines (and they also dominate here) so I'm left with very little choice which in turn means that I'm constantly subjected to their delayed or cancelled flights. So I place a much higher value on the trip delay/cancellation. With my travel I also have to rent cars and Chase picks up the protection as they provide primary coverage. Lastly, which I mentioned above is that with me traveling over 100 nights a year, I don't place much value on Gold status from Marriott or Hilton that comes with the Platinum card as I maintain Titanium status with stays alone just from Marriott so no card benefit is needed.

There's pros and cons to both and your view of either will change based on your personal situation. I don't believe that one is better than the other, they just shine in different ways. However I will say that if Amex ever offers trip delay/cancellation protection, I'd be on the Platinum in a heartbeat.

Great video man. Keep doin' what you're doin' and I'll be right here…on the other side of the screen, supporting you all the way!
