So i've seen a lot of videos for people. I'm talking about is the amx card worth it and we'll get a video you're actually going to get a video. I just actually finished recording that video you'll get a video with. Is the amex platinum card still worth it in a few days? Today's video i wanted to talk about people who are possibly thinking to cancel the card.

I wanted to talk about something you could do that may make you want to reconsider cancelling this card. It's the retention offer that they have right now, let's go right into the video, so guys one thing about me is i'm going to try to take advantage where i can. I love the company. I love what they do, but this change was just kind of, in my opinion, odd um, some of the changes and if you don't know the changes that they've done, i made a whole video on it.

So you can click the link right here, but one of those bigger changes was the entertainment, credit and the equinox or equinox. However, you pronounce the gym, i'm so it's so boozy. I don't even know how to pronounce it. Okay, but um.

They made some changes to this card also with the annual fee, but controlling us with picking one gym for the gym credit and then picking only maybe three or four for the entertainment. Credit really didn't sit well with me, and i was thinking about canceling the card. I was thinking about cancelling the card and i'm like listen. They want to take advantage and do their control, i'm going to probably take advantage to do some control myself.

So here's what i did knowing that i did not want to cancel the car this year, because i'm still locked in at the 550 annual fee with all of the new benefits i still wanted to make it seem like i was willing to cancel, which obviously we Both know, that's not what i wanted to this year, like i just said so, i called in got on the phone with the retention department. We went back and forth about what american express offers, how you can really use these benefits. How you can really you know, profit off of them in the long run with uh, you know, especially the 240. They were talking about the 240 entertainment credit and how you can you know, get peacock and audible and new york times now guys.

To be honest with you, i don't use any of them. I barely watch tv so me using those. Is i'm really forcing myself? It's like a coupon um, i'm really forcing myself to justify. So i can actually feel like i've done something when all i've done at the end of the day is spent more money on an annual fee.

I don't live near an equinox gym, so that's something i'd have to force myself to do too. It even got to the point where someone asked me well: can we buy things online every month on the equinox website and i'm like you, shouldn't, have to do all of that to to and also pay 700 to keep the card, so i called into the um This is the conversation i'm having back and forth with representative, obviously, and then at the end of the conversation they say: okay. Well, we have two options for you. We can give you a 400 statement.

Credit, if you spend 2 000 in the next three months or we can give you 30 000 membership reward points by just saying that you're going to keep the car for the next year. That's all i wanted so exactly what i wanted. So i obviously did not take the 400 statement. Credit.

I don't want to put more money on this card. I took the 30 000 mrp um. I think i can get more value out of that. If i use it correctly for sure.

So that's what i took so in a few days after they read me some disclosures. I got 30 000 mrp uh in my account for just calling in and just expressing my concern now. The reason i made this video is for you that are locked into the 550 annual fee and you're thinking about closing hold off for a little bit. Why not get these free points? There are obviously a lot of feedback, i'm sure, going into the i'm sort of getting feedback.

All the time like, i checked their instagram page out when this first came out when they introduced it on instagram, it's so many um disapprovals they're getting a lot of negative feedback from the changes so with that they have to give out something to kind of compensate To kind of keep the customer, this is your time to shine just like i did keep this car for the next year for 5.50, we've already paid it do not cancel this card, and - and even if you aren't canceling this card today, call in as if you Are and get that retention bonus, definitely just a tip, and i wanted to make that video for you guys and uh, if you guys did call in in the last couple of days or so comment down below what the retention offer was.
