AMC being acquired by Disney will cause the squeeze!
AMC and Disney have had a long standing partnership, just like VW and Porsche back in 2008. If Disney acquires AMC (which is seeming more and more likely), it could force the AMC squeeze exactly like Porsche did to VW.
While the market was crashing during the Lehman default, Porsche bought up 75% of VW, including another major shareholder that locked up 95% of the float.
Right now in 2022 we have Credit Suisse about to cause the Lehman Moment 2.0, and retail investors holding 90% of AMC and 100% of the APE float.
Therefore, we're replicating the VW squeeze perfectly on fundamentals so far.

OK, OK…Disney (maybe) wants to buy AMC. …At the current price that could be a huge win for them (chump change) BUT….Don't they have to buy it from us? I'm not selling at $9. Would Disney pay $500/sh? I kind of doubt it. Plus, wasn't it declared illegal for movie studios to own theaters many years ago??? Re a PARTNERSHIP….that could be a big win for AMC and increase it's value. If we got exclusive rights to debut all Disney work at AMC it's an increase in ticket sales. A lot of people would want to see a hit Disney movie in IMAX instead of waiting weeks to see it on their 42" LCD. However I can see that a partnership with Disney could cause real re-considerations among the Hedgies about hanging on to their short positions. Your post is not crystal-clear on these issues. I think a follow up is called for. Finally would a merger kill the squeeze….you opened this box….now you have to clarify it big time.

The main difference, and a really huge one at that, is the fact that this short squeeze will be happening under the watchful (sarcasm) eye of the SEC and NYSE. As if we expect them to play by the rules and roll over and call uncle already. It is not likely to happen, without the DOJ or actual cop/regulator enforcing the law/rules that are on the book, not turn a blind eye, play dumb, distract themselves by watching porn, basic silent quitting and overall dereliction of duty.
If they actual do their job, we would have never gotten to this point with all the swaps, FTDs, naked shorts, reselling the same fake shares multiple times (re-hypothecation), etc. Too bad these bad actors can't just decide to wake up feel the weight of their guilt and go out a window (like individuals in Putin's former inner circle).

Who is gonna buy a money losing company loaded with direct debt (5billion+) with another couple billion in differed obligation. And people … go look at why VW ran up. It is NOT the same situation as AMC. Not close. The German government owned a significant position in the company along with Porsche. There are NO OPTIONS any institution holds like Porsche held in VW that caused this. AMC is not going to buy this garbage company- somebody buying amc doesn’t just pay for ape and amc stock. Like 7-8 billion. They have to take on the other 8-10million in debt and obligations. Even Disney can’t squeeze any profit from amc to ever make that work. They will let it go BK and buy locations if that’s something they want. Won’t have to take any debt on

Rumors of Disney buying AMC is super old. So is Amazon wanting to buy AMC and shorting it considerably to try to buy AMC for a major discount. Its an old trick large corporations use. They either squash companies failing or buy up companies at a discount by making them appear to be failing.
