This bad boy right here is it worth it in 2021 american express green card, let's get right into it. What's up, everybody welcome back to the channel today's video we're talking about the american express green card, and if it is worth it, that's what we're going to talk about and um get. This question asked a lot for platinum. I get.

This question asked a lot for gold and i recently got this question axed for green, so today we're worrying about the green. Now i do not have the gold anymore. I did i. I only have the amx platinum, car and the amx green card.

So that's what we're talking about today, green card. Is it worth it in 2021? Let's talk about it. How can we talk about it well, first and foremost, to see if it's worth it well, let's figure out what it offers. What is its pros? What is its cons? All that good stuff? Now i can say off the back: it does have a 150 annual fee that is not waived.

The first year pretty much like a lot of american express cards, um the charge cards to play out. None of the charge cards are waived the first year. You do pay the annual fee up front, so you got to keep in mind you're, going to pay 150 u.s off the back, and now let's try to pretty much get that money back and try to. You know gain get into the positive with our net gains.

So first thing we got to do. My link should be the second link in my description and it'll also help the channel out, and i really appreciate it alright, so i'm on american express website and, as you can see right now, it's offering on the website 50 more points, so from 30 000 to Forty five thousand um, so that's nice, now the point guy values these points, typically at two cents per point, all right now it all depends on how you use these points, but you should be able to get two percent of that which is nine hundred dollars typically And it was a little less than that's still, not bad, so off the back boom for the first year. It's worth it why you have an annual fee of 150 you're able to get 900 in value, possibly so 900 minus 150, 750, so you're now, net 750.

So yeah you put a little money out, but you got all this back in and all you got to do to get that is to spend two thousand dollars in the first six months. There are people, i know you guys, i'm talking to you guys. You can spend two thousand in a month, two thousand in a couple weeks, so you're gon na pretty much just do what you're doing anyway put your your bills on there get it done real, quick, no problem pay to 150, keep it moving. Then you got 45 000 amx points in your account, or probably more of you had them now so year, one off the bat.

Yes, so we got year, one down, so that's easy! Okay year, one is worth it of course you're getting 750, at least in value. Okay, now you earn three points per dollar on restaurants, and i know you're gon na say welp we're not going to restaurants right now, but this includes takeout and delivery as well. So, even though you're not dining out and you you can still dine in and get three points, uh three amx points per dollar at restaurants. You get three x points on travel, so you may not be traveling, for you know, ride shares um subway, but you still get a monthly tolls.

So if you're somebody who does tall maybe for work, things like that, you'll still get that and you get 3x on travel from flights and rental cars to hotels and home shares and the good part about the 3x per points. The 3x points on the green card is, it can be third parties, so it doesn't have to just be american express website. It can be priceline, it could be booking expedia. You know all the ones that you guys use.

I use them too. Sometimes you get 3x per points on travel, beautiful and no foreign transaction fees wherever you are so i think that is an amazing thing. Let's get into some of the credits that you get every year now this to me is more of a like food and travel card in a sense, because that is his biggest categories, so we all know about the things i talked about as far as travel and Food and transit, but now, let's get into the airport stuff, so you're gon na get a total of two hundred dollars back in credits every year. Right so after year, one when you're back to okay 150 annual fee again we're off the bat you're getting two hundred dollars: okay, so you're getting a hundred dollar credit to help you breathe through security, with club with clear sorry yeah.

It's clear! So clear is nice, because sometimes tsa pre-check is very busy and clear is typically not clear. Is the second tsa pre-check, it's typically right next to tsa pre-track and does the same thing get you expedited service to uh your gate? Does the same thing actually like clear, better um, i don't have to go up and give my car to the tsa agent, literally just they'll scan my eyes or they scan my fingerprint, the person, the clear employees there they tell the guy i'm good. I just kind of just show them and i'll walk out. That's all i do and then you get 100 credit uh for lounge access.

So if you guys like to use lounge buddy, you can download the app lounge, but it pretty much gives you um access to different lounges, for example like the club in like atlanta or the club and uh, they got a bunch of the clubs. I know there's one in like texas, a couple of them in texas: you can get into them and some of them they cost. So you get a hundred dollars per year on them. So for somebody who likes to use the lounges, then yes, it makes sense there.

So two hundred dollars there you get trip, delay insurance, you get uh again, no foreign transaction fees, um baggage, insurance, um you get all that stuff. So uh is the card worth it with those being the biggest uh perks of this card. Yes, but there's a butt and it's not my butt, it's your butt. I have the card um.

So yes, it's worth it for me because i still travel um. I like to travel, that's my thing and i found value in this card um the 150 annual fee, like i said, with the credits and stuff it makes it makes it easy for me. Yes, this card is still worth for me. I do wish, though american express gave some more credits for this card for 2021, and maybe they will.

We don't know to kind of help. People who aren't traveling as much because that's the big but right there if you're, not traveling um and you already have the card and you don't see yourself traveling in the foreseean future. Well, you don't need a clear credit. You don't need a lounge access credit because you're not traveling, so you're throwing away 150 each year if you're not going to be traveling for the next couple years.

So in that sense, no, it's not worth it find a different card. Um maybe upgrade to the gold card if it makes sense um, so that's my take on it. So for me, yes, i'm a traveler. If you are a traveler um, because that you know you're going to get the 3x on restaurants and stuff like that, but how much can you really spend per year to really make up to be in? You know like how you got to spend a lot of money to be like okay, i'm getting 3x on dining, but i'm paying 150.

For that. There's a bunch of cars that you can get 2x 3x and have no annual fee, and you can get that on dining and stuff, so definitely look into other options. If that's all you're doing right now, you don't see yourself traveling, but for year, one! Yes no-brainer! Even if you're not traveling right now, this is the perfect time to get ready, get your eggs all get them ready, get them ready to go so when it is time to travel, you're, getting some cheap travel, you're, getting some free travel and, like i said 150 For the annual fee, you're getting 45 000 points, that's about 900 and then you're gon na minus that by 150 for the annual fee, that's 7.50! So yes, first year go ahead and get your mrp it the next year and make your decision off of that. So that's my video for today.
