In the stock market, news events are happening all the time. Sometimes, things just don’t go the way you hoped. You could plan, do your research and set yourself up for success but the stock can do the opposite of what you expected. When this happens you must cut your losses quickly. If you overstay after the trend changes, it could initiate an emotional response. Stick to your plan and exit as quickly as possible when the trade idea is busted.
If you do take a loss and exit the trade, try to detach. The beauty of trading is the freedom. There's nobody forcing you to sit at the computer, to get even further frustrated and maybe even lose money. Go for a walk, work out, read a book or go for a drive. You can walk away. The boss isn't forcing you to sit there at that desk and trade.
The market will always be there, but you control your actions. One of the bigger mistakes traders make is focusing on the previous trade. Try to focus on the bigger picture, your future trades. Have the mentality that you’re in it for the long haul.
Remember, trading is not a get rich quick scheme. That's not what we're talking about here at StocksToTrade. We're trying to give you the tools and the skills to build something that can service your lifestyle and your future goals. Don't lose sight of that. Focus on grinding, show up everyday, check every box and follow those trade plans.. It's not about today. It's about next year and down the road.
