The beauty of low-priced stocks is that no matter your current financial situation, you can probably make it work ... If you’re willing to put in the time and effort to learn the markets and how to trade.
Tip #1: Take advantage of all the technology at your fingertips. You can literally learn anything … you have unlimited knowledge at your disposal. Watch YouTube videos, listen to podcasts. Absorb as much free information as you can.
Now, remember that stock trading is NOT a get-rich-quick scheme. You may want stacks of cash today, but that’s just not gonna happen. It’s something you have to build over time.
That said, here’s tip #2: Pay off your debts first. You will struggle when you start trading. No lie, this is hard. There's so much to learn. You’ll make mistakes over and over before you build the discipline to make better decisions. If you have debt, pay it off while you take the time to learn. It can help lower your overall stress.
Tip #3: Whatever you want to do — start on it TODAY. There’s that old proverb: “The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago, the second-best time is today.” And that’s the truth! Take advantage of your youth. Take advantage of today. Start learning. There are so many resources, books, and educational videos out there. Use every resource you can find and start now.
Tip #4: Pick a broker that best suits your trading needs. If you're just getting started as a new trader, expenses can matter. So you may want to minimize them as much as possible. But be sure to fully vet any broker you use and fully understand their fees as well as which stocks you can trade.
Tip #5: Diversify — especially if you're young and in college! It’s OK if you don’t know what you want to do. Pursue different interests. Find multiple potential sources of income. Be willing to try everything and be willing to fail. Pursue your passions, pursue your ideas.
Always keep your options open.
