What about those regulatory credits? Would Tesla still be that efficient without selling their credits? Or are they not included in your calculation? Despite my question: man, your content is amazing!

I don't like cars that have everything on board but you need to either pay to unlock it or worse, pay a subscription. And I also don't like roofs ripping of during drive.

Not a game changer for me – too much control over charging rights/speed and locked down technology and OS – look at apple yeah they make good phones and the mac is good but I will never own one again – the historic overprotection and general user limitiations made them feel so unresponsive / expensive and not easy to upgrade. Applying the similar idea to Tesla – customer experience and choice even if presented with a 26k model there is no guarantee it will sell like better – who really wants to sit around for 3hrs while trying to charge battery when you forget or even just go to far. The polution is just being deplaced with an electric car – from the battery material sourcing to charging source – in fact batteries are by nature innefficient becuase it takes more energy to charge them you recover 80% of the energy put in . Currently a tesla costs 83,000 EURO here in France so I can see how they make a good profit margin per unit but look at who they are selling to – these are probably not "one" car families/owners who would have major constraints living with the usability of an electric car – that is who is targetting right. I hope the public can think for themselves and instead of buying new fancy cars just keep their old cars running instead of creating a new 20 tonne carbon footprint when they buy new one.

Elon is painful to listen to. It's like his brain is operating twice as fast as his mouth. Do some research on the new nuclear models.

    Nuclear is better than batteries.

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tib Syy says:

You CAN store solar energy even today! With liquid air, so called cryogenic batteries! So even today you could fix this problem. No further inventions needed! Look at Germany. Over 50% energy comes from renewables. How is it possible? Well the sun can't shine at night but the windmills can spin at night and day as well! Plant a ton, problem solved with cryogenic peaker plants. 🀘πŸ’ͺ

Solar is cost competitive with new natural gas plants TODAY. If cost of solar continues to come down, solar will be cost competitive with existing (non-peaker) natural gas plants.

If you produce a huge amount of cars, isn't it an idea to optimize profits mainly on car leasing and car credit with good interest rates?

My man, like your videos a lot but let me tell that there is now the technology available to get rid of the NUCLEAR WASTE you are talking about WITHOUT CONTAMINATING THE WORLD. The nuclear waste is recycled and used to produce more energy, eliminating not only the possibility to contaminate but its also way safer in terms of radioactive contamination. The problem is that it would cost billions upon billions to construct a factory with these technological capabilities. We are not in the 70s anymore hahahaha.

Just curious, why are solar panels not the answer, long term? At least until we figure out antimatter.

What if Tesla got into the wholesale electricity biz, reducing the cost of electricity by 50% ?

Perhaps consider Tesla is re-investing most profits back into projects, research to applied application, etc. Plus Elon just raised 5 billion in the market on top of earlier raise this year.

If the stock increases another 10 fold, Tesla can raise 50 billion in the market at a clip. Elon is the best at applying capital to new products and services as opposed to issuing dividends or doing buybacks.

So Tesla would have no problem acquiring capital for building massive solar fields for wholesale electricity production. Right now Tesla does distributive retail electricity production with solar roofs on homes.

But what if Tesla went into wholesale electricity production using liquid cooled cables laid underground paired with boring tunnels Instead of surface electricity lines on steel towers ?

A couple of decades ago Elon calculated his famous quip, 100 square miles of solar panels could power the USA and one square mile of the old skinny batteries in a 1 square mile of batteries to store the electricity. Maybe Elon was trying to prepare us for something ?

Of course Tesla would start off with a small proof concept in say Reno at their battery factory under the cover of it’s a green offset for the electricity drawn at all their super charging stations. And also test liquid cooled cable to lines to Reno/Sparks Nevada to transport the electricity. Remember Tesla is already testing liquid cooled cable lines to fuel their Semi.

Tesla would then sell this electricity wholesale to Reno/Sparks electric utility company taking those two cities off the fossil electric grid.

Now with a thousand boring machines creating Tesla’s own underground interstate system at 100mph, (600 mph if hyperlooped); this scales nicely to provide electricity to the whole US through liquid cooled cables paired with the boring tunnels. 10 solar fields, more or less, strategically located throughout the US would cover everybody.

Take note that the Austin gigafactory is right next to the largest desert in North America, the Chihuahuan desert. Also take note Austin City is on Interstate 35 along with San Antonio, Waco, Dallas Ft Worth. I-35 is totally messed up planning wise. In Austin area planners didn’t leave room for expansion, I-35 expansion was done by stacking a second interstate 35 on top of pillars above the current I-35. And construction is always constant Austin to Dallas Ft Worth, doing replacing, repairing and widening this I-35 corridor . You can imagine the car congestion.

So the Austin Giga-factory is located perfectly for 250-350 mile long boring tunnels for cars paired with liquid cooled cables for transporting wholesale electricity produced by Tesla solar field in the Chihuahuan desert near Austin.

Currently, the boring company is planning a 250 mile plus tunnel from Las Vegas to Los Angeles. An Austin to Dallas boring tunnel for car and liquid cooled electricity transport is in the same 250 miles range.

Let’s say Tesla starts with a 25 square mile solar field just for Texas, where electricity is not cheap, Tesla could sell the the electricity wholesale to the utility companies, eliminate utility companies need for fossil electricity plants and peaker plants and make a nice profit while lowering the cost of electricity.

Peaker plants to control power grid intermittency would no longer be needed as Tesla is storing excess electricity in its less than 1 square mile field of battery storage for surge demand. (Tesla already does electric grid storage in Australia and other places).

If you add Tesla wholesale electricity production from solar fields, that relegates electric utility companies to a still very important electricity distributor from Tesla solar fields, since electric companies have all the very necessary local wiring in place to the home.

And Tesla would need all this wiring for its current distributed virtual power from Tesla home solar panels, and any future Tesla wholesale electricity sold from massive solar fields across the country.

Thus, Tesla replaces all fossil fuel generation at electric utilities, NG, coal, etc and nuclear.

And expect a massive increase in Tesla share price in the six figure range, similar to Berkshire Hathaway.

"I'm not going to buy, because I'm not a Tesla investor" – that's a weird statement. "because I'm not a Tesla investor" is not a real reason, what does this even mean, can you elaborate? Why would you not buy if you think the stock price will surge?

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ferenc TΓ³th says:

Actually the Lucid trimotor specs are very close to what Tesla announced for Model S Plaid.
However this does not matter for Lucid. Lucid is a luxury brand. It is just a perk that it has super-sports-car capabilities.
But mainly people will buy it, because it is a luxury car. I don't think Model S Plaid will hurt Lucid sales much.
However I think that Plaid will not be really popular. It will not sell in massive numbers on 130k price range.
Just think about it. The current Model S is great as well, if you like it for the sportiness. You don't need to pay +50k for extra performance.
So my prediction is that Plaid will not sell well on the 130k price range. Maybe if they lower the price it will.

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ferenc TΓ³th says:

The 25k car is possible even now. E.g. Renault Zoe is below that. And Tesla also wants the car to be small. (at least what we know so far about the car).
So this is just a business decision. When is it proper to enter this car into the market. The profit margins will be lower than on current models probably. And it can cannibalize some Model 3/Y sales.
But eventually this is a natural step further for Tesla if they want to sell million+ vehicles.

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Carl Davidson says:

What you said about a sustainable energy source is incorrect. Solar is sustainable but we require more research in the field to decrease pricing. Not that it is unsustainable.

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Brandon Fouts says:

efficiency, waste less, recycle, stop using one use plastics – you get the idea.
Tesla R&D – the other vehicle makers do R&D mostly for tax write offs, right?
NO ONE gets as much as Tesla gets from R&D – astounding.

You are utterly half baked in your understanding of power generation.

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars bill nipp says:

Tesla just showed all these battery companies how to innovate and improve batteries. If that doesn't make them the leaders in battery technology nothing else will. ty
