Warrior Trading // Ross Cameron // Day Trade Warrior

Okay, so the topic of this episode is day trading while working full time I Actually just did an interview with a student who has his million dollar badge. he's on the west coast. he trades from 6 a.m to 7 A.M West Coast time before work and they traded during his lunch hour from 12 to 1. his guys his million dollar badge trading around a regular work schedule so it can be done of course.

As always, his results are not typical, neither are mine. Trading is risky, let me not forget to say that. but uh I Wanna open this up to the table? here? We've got uh, well, seven Traders total including me who are profitable Traders and some of them started while still working full-time So let's hear it. Um I Suppose we should start with Manoli who ended up.

did you get fired or did you quit? So tell me how it went. So I at first I was working a job that was like 70 hours a week, so it actually was. It was perfect timing for me on everything that happened. um I just got done going to a new mortgage company that was only like 37 hours a week and that was um 10 to 6 Monday through Thursday and then like 10 to 3 on Fridays as soon as I went to that new company I think that was late February covet hit and we were working from home so that's when I got back into trading when we get when we got back into the office.

So before I signed up for Warrior though I called my manager I was like hey can I switch my hours from 10 to 6 to 11 to 7 because I knew I would need the 9 30 to 11 period. Yep so they were cool with that I was in a sales job so there was a little flexibility there. Um so when I went back into the office the managers it was like a it was a younger environment. The managers were real cool at first because my production was fine at first.

yeah at first and uh and I was actually bringing in my laptop and an extra screen and trading in an office before work. Okay so I went in every morning at like I want to say eight o'clock I got in and it actually made me going to the office. Uh it made me more excited to go to the office because I was excited to trade every morning. Okay so I got there at 8 8, 30 and I was trading up until usually on par with you.

So right around 10 30 11. yep um some days I did go over and I had managers talk to me really yeah like they're gonna shut it down because they're like dude, it's 11 15. I said 11. and like then the president and they they kind of they didn't like it.

did people come and like look over your shoulder because I went in another room can I shut the door and at that point listen. But but at that point I wasn't making any money either. It was like new it was I wasn't doing too much. they were actually clowning me for for paying 3 600 for a course.

Yeah, right, Yeah, not anymore, right? So um so I I was doing that and I did that for eight, eight or nine months and well at one point I actually was making like it was I think it started December of 2020 okay into January that's when sizing got crazy. So in my first and you were still trading at I was still trading at work this whole time, a bathroom stall or dude. no but they did kick me out of that office. Yeah and so I actually had to hide it from the president and my manager was cool.
He's like just do it on the work computer. they won't don't let them catch you. yeah they'll never catch you. they'll never know.

That's great advice. Okay so I was doing that and then I was making like. Then people started to join in because then I was making 5 10 15 grand in a day. Yeah and they were just like holy crap like what's going on So at one point I had the whole office trying to be day traders in the bottom, not focused on selling at all.

we were just looking at stocks all day long and um and and it was cool but then but then then I got to a point where it was early January okay and I had my biggest Green Day in the office it was like 30 some thousand dollars and that that was crazy I was like holy crap like I just that was so much money I get up and I still remember my managers like because they're all trading at this point they're like I don't know this this looks really good here and I was I was like I'm done for the day I'm gonna go get lunch. they're like I don't know this looks really good. you might want to sit back down yeah I sat back down okay and I went red 20 grand. whoa that's a huge swing it was I was a 50k swing and that this was before I was really making crazy money.

yeah um so that was like that hurt that was like devastating lipid. I went I told him I told my boss I was like listen I gotta go home I left work and I thought about it I talked to my wife too and I was like you know what I might just have to give this a shot and go full time. Yeah awesome I love it that's a great story and so I I told my boss I was like hey you know I think I'm gonna give this a shot I'm gonna I'm gonna take the week he said take the weekend to think about it. Sure took the weekend I thought about it and I decided I'm gonna just go and and try trading full time that Monday I made like 55 000 oh my God So I was just wow because I was so on tilt from that Friday yeah yeah so then it's you know it's history from there and then I started working from home.

so I did make I want to say 250 to 300 000 roughly before I quit. So I made sure I was pretty profitable, consistent, sized up and I was making way more than well my work. This kind of, you know the natural question here is okay: I'm working and I'm trading at what point can I quit my job right? And when I was talking to the student um earlier this week who's got a million dollar badge, he's like I don't know, you know I I'm he's got a great job. it's a it's a good job.

He doesn't even really want people to know like he's trading. you know he's got a good job and uh he was like I don't know. Maybe I see how the next six months next year goes trading like we're in a slower Market but maybe I can just keep doing both. So like the decision for you to to you know go full time.
I guess it seems like it was kind of forced just because of Focus right? No. I see people mentioning it's funny how you chose this after a big loss. and yeah, the reason I did it was because I was like you know what? not that I was I was I take full-on accountability for what I did you know I'm the one that sat back down but I feel like you have to realize how precious this is and how emotional it can get and all of the things around you affect those emotions. and I just realized I was like you know what? it's now hurting me to be at this job because I'm making way more money trading and I have too many other and factors in my environment that are now affecting that success of that trading that I just want to be in my own kind of.

Flow State and it goes back to. it's easier to control your environment than it is to control your willpower. Exactly Yeah, which we were talking about last night. Absolutely absolutely that.

I mean that's a great um, that's a really great statement there because if you know you have these triggers, if you know you have these distractions, whatever it is, you know, forcing yourself to experience them every single day at a certain point just makes sense to avoid those situations, right? So no longer trading at work where you've got all those distractions. Yeah, that made sense. I I This is funny I sometimes have dreams where I'm in high school or in college and I'm like oh man, like I've got to go to class now like you know I TR it's like nine o'clock I've got to get into trading and I'm like why am I even doing this and I don't know why I have that dream so often but uh, you know the fact is in those dreams, it's like there's no question trading is more important, like it's the priority. So who else here was still working while I'm looking at him on yeah, I was.

Uh, so it's a pretty interesting story right off this. uh, right out of school I was working at CVS and I think a lot of the healthcare professionals would be able to relate. I was making about 120 130 Grand a year. which is, you know, good, great money.

but I was essentially just wearing golden handcuffs from that point on. I tried so hard and tried to get into the Pharma side of things and it's kind of hard as a pharmacist. but I made it through there two there and then after that, that's when I started pursuing other things because that's when I had more time on my hand. Uh so I started off at Fizer and then I went to GSK I became full time I was starting to learn how to day trade and I was lucky enough to not have a boss for the first six months.

So you know I didn't have any calls from like 9 to 11. I just blocked off my schedule. okay from nine to eleven. so I could trade I was trading.
the I was trading. uh, pretty much the whole day. Uh, because I didn't have a boss, you know? I had more freedom. Yeah, But as time went on, I was still trading with a job then I had uh Stoli I had a projects.

come on. But for the year of like 2021 actually uh, 2020 and 2021 I started getting more projects. My calendar was still blocked off. No one ever found out why or how and you know I was always working from home right? Uh, and even when we did have to go in like at the beginning, it was only like two days.

Uh, it was really flexible. but 2021 didn't go in I knew that I'm not I didn't feel comfortable uh enough to quit my job right away. Yeah and I think when I did the 100K interview I was still at I was still working. Yeah and at that point I mean you know you.

you put a lot into. um, you know your career. Yeah, you've gone through college. I mean eight years of school? This is Huge.

Yeah, eight years of school so you don't want to just on a whim. Gotta be sure. So I was still you know, in the middle of trading and you know, just grinding through like I'll try to take uh I'll be taking a meeting at like two to three but like if something's running I'm like oh my God I'll be like uh, constantly trading I had my six screens set up and I'll be like taking a call on this uh this side and like oh shoot, something's running so in the middle of a call I'm taking trades looking on the screens. uh but those days came on and then finally in July 2021 that's when I decided actually before that funny story.

uh from what Manoli was saying, my ball. I Had a meeting with my boss one time and he's like you're uh, you know he was really nice about it but he's like you're performing on the bottom five percent. no way. I'm a really hard working person or really try hard.

Please can you expose me to more projects and uh, you know and in the back of my head I'm like yeah, you know yeah I'd rather trade and do this so because it was already working out at that point right? I mean I was I was slowly but I just I was still in the middle. you know my one leg was trading the other on the other side. It was a smart move as you were getting started. yeah and uh you know at some point and then I just got really confused.

I'm like I can't do two things at once but you know I did not want to quit especially my red days I'm like what am I doing you know I'm already making this much money like I don't need to have a job right now honestly having that meeting or being at this job I'm kind of distracted right now I would rather be focusing on this and a lot of times when I had my red days I would think about that but I'm like no I don't want to leave it I don't want to leave this on my lows if I do I'll try to leave it at my Highs at first I didn't even have a thought that I'm gonna quit this because I was able to trade I was able to make money and I was making more than 200 I made more than 2 250k that month I mean that year and I'm like I don't know anyone around me in my Social Circles that that's doing this Yeah so I was kind of okay with that. but there came a point where I'm like hey, enough is enough July 2021 it's been more than a year now yeah I Had a, you know, a meeting with my boss and at first I was kind of embarrassed to tell my boss that hey, I want to quit my job to day trade That's the funniest conversation because they didn't know, right? and I mean he's like uh, I'm like you know I was kind of hesitant but I just told him anyway. I'm like I don't care if you think I'm a crack crackhead but I'm just gonna. this is what I'm doing and you can believe whatever you want I was kind of nervous about it for some reason and you know he was actually very nice.
He took it, he took it on. well he's like no, this is the age to try it out. You know if if uh, you know he's like I wish I did something uh different and uh then I told my team you know as I was leaving I gave I gave him my two week notice and then funniest thing happened they're like and then I showed them my setup I'm like hey, this is what I do just because they were interested and they're like oh so that's why we always thought you were looking around on meetings thinking about like looking at the charts and that um you know it was a funny moment there. but yeah that's and then I finally uh got off I finally quit my job in July 2021.

but you know as I was doing that it was kind of uh I was still afraid. you know because I was letting go of this security. It was such a for sure. such a huge thing in my head to get over because I don't have health care, don't have 401k I did pension program I used to get two percent pension um like matching 401K uh great incentives uh left all of that the security and I I loved my job I loved what I did.

that was the other thing but I'm like no I know scalability is here I know I uh I'm doing well and I can do a lot better. So I let that go and I was still always anxious I'm like hey I know First good six months I was kind of still in disbelief. is this is this happening? Am I doing it and then after like a year now I'm like you know I still I'm sure I'm not completely over. it still feels like hey, you know, am I really doing this but yeah, you know it's it's over I feel like that that that that point where I have to be worried that hey I don't have that security of a job anymore for sure? Yeah yeah, no that's a big one.

Was anyone else here still working full-time Or or working? No no I wasn't full-time No no Well and you would sold your business. I was in the process of selling my business when I started Warrior Starter Yeah so and I was still I had sold the business and I was on a 90-day retention. Yeah so I did see the transition through of the business and I was already checked out. Yeah, I was I was loving the beginning of trading and learning I was still in the simulator at that point.
Yeah, um, but I would trade in the morning whenever they needed something I would take care of it. but I was so you know I was ready to move on. Yeah, and that's a business I started I grew for seven years. You know it's a lot.

it is a lot. and uh, you know I still had 30 plus employees there and you know, saying goodbye to everybody and going through that transition. but I knew this was I I hadn't been successful in trading yet either, right? So you know. But you were right You, you were you sold the company I sold the company I was you had an opportunity I was something different I was set financially at least for a while.

You know I didn't need money for a while and you know I was excited. things luckily panned out. but yeah, no, that's good, you know. I So I was not working full time when I started trading.

Um, but I'm now kind of in a position where you know I added I I started trading and I've been trading for a long time and now the role of uh running Warrior and everything that I do here has become a full-time job and so what often happens for me is I'll have meetings on my calendar in the afternoons I I Rarely will have any meetings in the morning I mean as much as possible I Do Not let people book me in the morning so my mornings are free for trading. but then as early as 11 I can start having people pop meetings on my calendar you know, meetings with the developers to work with scanners, meetings with my marketing team, meetings with a customer support team you know et cetera et cetera. and what I often will have happen is I'm in anything and since I have my meetings at the same place which is at my in my office I have all the charts and so you know during a meeting sometimes I'll see something starting to move up and I feel that distraction of like oh I I want to start trading it and sometimes I will and then whenever I'm doing that I'm like 100 not paying attention to the meeting I'm not there at all like I'm there but I'm not there and people could ask like someone could be like hey Russ so what do you think of that and I'm like um restart the question and I feel bad but and I feel bad on two levels because I feel bad because I'm not serving as well as I could be in my role as the boss. Um, you know to make decisions and on the other hand with trading I feel like I'm not serving my trading as well because now I've booked myself all afternoon with meetings and I've missed the opportunity to trade this big Momo stock that goes from like 50 to 150 in the afternoon.

and then I had this Fomo and I'm like oh my God are you serious I should have been trading that I should have just told everyone like clear my schedule I'll re we'll redo those meetings next week or whatever it is and so I I struggle with it now and I I've sort of. you know I've thought about it quite a bit with with the scheduling thing because at this point I trade in the morning but it's sort of the same as I always have. so I trade from early in the morning and then I'm pretty much done at like by 11 at this point and for the most part I try to shut down charts no matter what and not come back in the rest of the day. that way it's you know it's not like oh I have some free time this Thursday afternoon I guess I can watch the market no I never trade past 11.
so whenever I do past 11, we'll never interfere with trading because that's outside my trading schedule now. The only problem with that is if we start seeing this pattern where we're having more and more power hour momentum or things like that, then that's where I start to feel like oh maybe I maybe I should rethink my my calendar and start to change my schedule. but you know I am I'm still trying to work full-time and trade full-time and I cannot do both at the same time. I mean I can check some emails while I'm like waiting on a setup but I can't be in meetings and make decisions.

So for me I really need to sort of separate my schedule from morning and afternoon and so morning is dedicated to trading and then afternoon is pretty dedicated to Warrior And you know for other people at this table: Jess I know you do some uh, you know you've got your fulfillment by Amazon business and you've got some house flips and stuff like that. You know those are things that can take your afternoon and you know. But then it happens that you're doing that on Tuesday and Thursday and then those are the two days you have the 200 after exact squeeze and you feel like an idiot because you missed that move. Yeah, I'm kind of.

um, how you're describing it now is is basically how I started. Um I Would you know we'd be buying like this, this huge inventory and all this stuff would be coming in? We'd have to, you know, sort through it and at the same time I would see like a big move. Yeah, 100 like. oh man.

And then it became like this issue where you know just as you were talking about, you know it's like perfect timing. You're doing something else when you should be trading. You know, when you actively trade, there's nothing moving and you should be handling something with your business right? And it was just this this consistent issue and it wasn't until um you know we I would be like put like we'd buy like this inventory like 200 000 in inventory and as we'd get the inventory um they would send us like a cease and desist letter I'm like I'm like what are you, what are you doing you told you said we could sell this stuff and that's what really kind of pushed me towards. you know, trading like right? and now I think I'm just gonna back down on this a little bit and focus more on trading.

and it wasn't until that that push that it kind of guided me into the you know the direction I wanted to go. Yeah, but yeah, it was really hard. um trying to balance the two. It was very hard and and you don't have a personal life you have to have you know your wife, kids and all this other stuff.
yeah Tanner and uh, the warrior room said one who chases two rabbits catches none. That's exactly it. Yeah, yeah. I mean it's it's true though.

and I think that so how many of you guys here are at current trading? like eight hours a day from like very beginning to end of the day I took a break you take I'm there for a solid chunk of the morning, then I take a break and then I usually come back in the afternoon. Okay, Max I Wouldn't say a full eight hours, but maybe five or six during a regular day. Are you there for Power Hour Close or you're done depends on the day, but if it's hot, I'll tend to try and be if I can. Um, other times I'll just try and find something else to distract me and not go back.

You two are both on West Coast time so that you know you're up so early and then what are you gonna do? Just be done. Be done for the day like 10 a.m next time. It's great. Silly.

So 7 30? Yeah, right right. Um, what about you guys over here? I'm usually uh at my trading station by 7 A.M eastern time and I'm trying to wrap up by 11 11 30. and then you're done. I'm done for the day.

I'm going to the gym I'm going to the pool I'm doing enjoying light stuff and taking care of your your head shine. Yeah, yeah. okay, okay, what about you? What's your schedule? Yeah, mine depends on the market for sure and how I'm trading so you know I'll still shut it. Shut it down early if I'm trading bad or I'm choppy.

but lately I've been staying a lot longer and kind of like Danny I'll go and I'll trade from like or at least I'll be in front of the screens from 8 30 to like 11 30 12. take an hour to break, then come back for like two to four. Action: Okay, typically yeah. I would say 2021 I was trading all day from like 8 45 9 to like 4 or 4 30 sometimes.

yeah and after that I used to be exhausted. Yeah, if someone told me if someone asked me a question, if my wife asked me something, I'd be like what? yeah I would just not respond because I wouldn't have the uh, the energy. but now this year uh I mean I didn't make money I would say by trading longer hours. uh but I think this year you can't do that and I think I've learned better ways.

I've learned better risk management and I've I've learned how to handle a loss or shut it down. Yeah, quicker. But right now I'm out I'll get in at 8 30 and I'm out by like sometimes some days I'm out at 10. if I just get a good winner, I'm out of 10 but at the latest I'll go until 11 30.

Okay yeah, I mean you know I think that that's a good strategy I really do I sometimes I in this slower Market I'm like ah, backwards can't be choosers. You guys sit at. you guys sit here. you gotta spend more time.
And then the other hand I'm like this is a choppy Market you get in, you get your 20 cents a share for the day, and you get out. yep and do it again tomorrow. Base hits so different schools of thought and it depends on a number of different factors. What else you've got going on in your life? What you're trying to do? um, decision fatigue, and things like that.

But one of the worst things for me is coming back at three o'clock and then blowing. you know, all of my morning profit and sitting there right on the day. I That kills me. I get so frustrated when I do that.

Yeah, and then that can lead right into being at the center into the next day. So part of what we were talking about before setting yourselves up up. So every single day you're closing, basically ready to come back and hit it hard tomorrow. It's hard to end on a good note when you're still trading at, you know Power Hour Four o'clock and you know yeah? I will trade longer based on the market.

Like Manali said I think if the market requires if there is a lot of other players there, if there's volume, and if there's moves happening, then I'll stay longer. like for example, first week of August starting all day and you know I was paying dividends I mean I'm sure. Yeah, you were also trading. yeah, a lot longer.

it was the market called for it. Yeah, and I mean that's when it calls for It's tough when it's very Hit or Miss Yeah, slow slow slow. And then one random hot day because yeah, like what am I supposed to be just sitting here every single day? Yeah, there's been nothing going on. But all right.

Well, this was some good stuff. So for those of you out there thinking about day trading, uh, while still working, it sounds like you could probably get away with it. Your possible won't even notice for a why. All right, you'll learn something.

We'll see you for the next episode. I Hope you really enjoyed that video and make sure you hit the Thumbs Up And subscribe to the channel if you haven't all ready. "It can be done" if you are not in the east coast, unless you are planning on working during work hours which is impossible for those working in-person (ie. not remotely), unless you plan on getting caught and getting fired (read: high stress on top of trading stress)

Excellent video Ross, huge fan of yours. I too am a new trader with a full time job. My job starts at 7, and I get a break at 9 EST until 930. Unfortunately I miss out the market open. But, I take lunch from 11-12, so I can get on and look for movers. Then, I'm in my office from 2 until 330. So I can catch the end of day. So , yes it's possible. Your videos are excellent!!!

I have a full time job trading from my workvan everyday. This month had two red days only trading longs. So I’m just making sure I get my consistency up and grow my account more before I finally make the decision.

If there is one thing I have learned in recent months it is to remain calm, especially when it comes to investments in cryptocurrencies. Learn not to sell in a panic when everything goes down and not to buy in euphoria when everything goes up. I advise y'all to forget predictions and start making a good profit now because future valuations are all speculations and guesses. The market is very unstable and you can not tell if it's going bearish or bullish. While myself and others are tradimg without fear of making a loss others are being patient for the price to skyrocket. It all depends on the pattern you follow.
