None of this is how anything finance related works. This is just elites bitching and moaning cuz working class ppl finally caught a little break!

You don’t complain when the rich get their freebies from the government.. it’s only an issues when the working class get help?

Why are you fueling this tired debate all over again? This is like me getting angry that I didn’t have my own company to have received a PPP loan I wouldn’t have to pay back during the height of the pandemic. There’s no point in being angry over the timing of something good and where we come up with this money is probably the same place it comes from when we magically have enough money to get involved in war and other peoples international relations issues like the war in Russia. So get off of it

I shouldn't have to pay for students' debt, it should be the student's and/or the organizations like a university that should.

You can recoup payments made as of March 2020 within the amount that was forgiven. So I'd say its as fair as it can be considering the promises of the Biden Administration for student loan forgiveness. TBH, 10,000 is nothing compared to the hundreds of thousands of loans that many people in the masters/doctorates have.

I don't agree with freebies if we take a libertarian approach. My issue is that we don't and this is what we are outraged about. Farm, tech, Ev, "non-profits" and all types of massive corporations are tax subsidies at way higher rates and Ive never seen this kind of outrage. I mean even recently we offered PPP which were pretty much interest free or even free for some companies but student loans aren't and can't be defaulted but this is what we are mad about. This bill aids more people at the bottom. Than any of those subsidized sectors. I won't be a hypocrite either nothing is subsidized or at least we should have something for everyday people and not just corporations

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Silvanus Clarke says:

Ok and what about corporations and businesses that got their loans forgiven for free. I never heard you say a peep about them and I haven’t heard anything from all the elites that got PPP loans forgiven . Yet you harp on working class people that got tricked into taking student loans plunder the guarantee that a college degree would pay it off.

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars eurobabe says:

it's such BS. no one forced these students to take out loans.i paid mine off and I shouldn't have to pay off the loans of others

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Brennan B says:

Sir this is debt the government already has on the balance sheet…. Every American is already paying the debt when Congress gave the authority to the department of education decades ago… I swear Americans don’t deserve education … elementary and high school… you all don’t deserve it

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Seth Purdom says:

Absolutely agree! How are we not calling out university's??? How likely will university's increase tuition dramatically knowing the goverment "we the people" will pay for it.
    THIS IS INSANE!

Hate to get political but years recently it’s like dems are for the lazy and the reps are for those who want to work for it… like they take from those who work hard to give those who are “needy”. Interestingly, after having thought this, i read a similar topic on rich dad poor dad so I can’t be making this up.

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars fivan says:

I graduated in 2018, worked 2 jobs right after and paid my loan off in a year. This is some bs

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dracqula says:

I feel like they should have capped the max interest rates that are allowed on student loans to a much lower rate instead. That way people could actually pay off their loans instead of perpetually only covering their interest payments, and it would be paid for at the expense of for profit colleges and Sallie Mae instead of the taxpayers. This would also benefit everyone in the future as well, not just the outstanding loans today.

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Shipj0 says:

    Right on Ricky. Well said.

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tye Bratton says:

Biden didn’t “wipe out $10K in student loans” he transferred their debt to tax payers. I’m all for 0% student loans, but this wealth transfer is crap.

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars ChiefSo F1 says:

I just paid mine in full this year. This is a slap in the face. I also support a family of 3.
