Robert Taylor, was a serial entrepreneur and brilliant marketer, but he was so frustrated and helpless against the big corporations stealing his ideas. Every time he launched a successful product he saw how these big companies who had more capital and resources quickly copied his product and pushed him aside. But, In the early 80's he decided to put an end to it, he decided to finally stand up against the bullies, and this time he was not defeated. How? Liquid soap! Liquid soap? Are you crazy? Nope. Hey Tom, I thought you only do stocks and Pltr tellings, surprised me with this softsoap story. Another great episode!
Interesting story.
Just signed up to Morning Brew.
Tom. What a story. I grew up in Minneapolis and had just sold my car before going away to college. My dad had an engineering firm in an industrial complex and I worked for him over the summer. We went to lunch with his neighbor who was a chemical engineer and built filling and mixing equipment. He asked me where my car was and I told him I sold it. He said listen I'm working on a project for Minnetonka Labs (their name at the time) and if I was you I would put the money from your car in their stock, which I did. 1 year later I had 4x my money and as any 18 year old would do I sold my Minnetonka Inc stock and paid cash for a new car. Even MORE AMAZING is my dad's neighbor on the left PSI (Paul's Sports Inc) was the inventor of the Nordic Track and we had the 3rd machine he built. He sold out to the holding company who owns Boston Whaler boats and today Nordick Track is a household name.
palm-o-leave!
Personally I loved this episode Tom! โAfter watching Tomโs latest episode Prof. Patrick Boyle decided to buy out Morning Brew due to Tom using them as his sponsor for his show. Next episode by Tom will be sponsored by Patrick Boyleโs Morning Brew

Glad you did this one Tom. Quick and to the point and an easy way to show how to win. Elon should do the same thing for Tesla. LMAO. Buy every battery for the next 2 years.
An offer they cannot refuse I see (Italian music starts)
In 1987, Minnetonka Corp.โs Village Bath and SoftSoap brands were acquired by Colgate-Palmolive. In 1989 Unilever acquired the rest of Minnetonka Corp. for $376 million, keeping the Calvin Klein fragrance lines and selling the rest of the Minnetonka line to the Japanese company Tsumura. Today, a Minnesota firm, The Village Company, once again owns many of the original Minnetonka brands โ still leaders in their respective categories.
