Will the Market Crash cause AMC to squeeze?
I've said on the channel a number of times over the last year that either a catalyst will cause the AMC squeeze, causing the market to crash, or the market would crash triggering the AMC squeeze.
But how exactly would a market crash cause the squeeze? wouldnt these funds shorting AMC benefit from a market crash?
These funds are only shorting AMC with a fairly small portion of their overall portfolio (significantly less than 50%). Overall, many of these funds are still long on the market.
As the market crashes, their long positions fall in value by a greater amount than their short positions rise.
Therefore, net net, they loose money during a market crash and approach ever closer to that margin call position.
Many of these funds are also stuck and CAN'T exit their positions, even if they wanted to.
