All right, everybody happy 2022.. Today's video, i'm going to give you not five, not 10, but 20 things. I think everybody should do when they get their american extra platinum card or if they have it. So, if you're, a new user, welcome to the platinum family.

If you already have it, these are 20 things that you should be doing to make sure you get the best value out of this card, let's get into the video. All right so for the people who are new, like i said, welcome to the platinum family, and the first thing i think you should be focused on is the welcome offer now, when i give you guys any of these things, this is not in chronological order.

These are just me thinking about some of the things and write them down. Do them, however, you want to, but if you are new, this is the first thing you should be focusing on, and this is the welcome offer right now. If you click my referral link down below, if you do want the mx platinum card to offer 100 000 points and i'll put it up on the screen for you guys, a hundred thousand membership reward points. If you spend 6 000 on purchases on your card within the first six months, so if you break it down and make it easy for yourself, all you have to do is spend a thousand dollars per month on that card and you'll get a hundred thousand membership Reward points, typically, membership reward points are worth two cents per dollar.

So that's about two thousand dollars at the best value. Um of a sign up, bonus, okay and the annual fee is about seven hundred dollars just to round it up 695 to be exact. So you're already over and profiting thirteen hundred and five dollars for the first year. You only get this bonus once per lifetime for the amx platinum car.

So if you get an amx platinum card once per lifetime, it makes business platinum card once per lifetime. Mx, gold card, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera, that's the first thing, tsa pre-checking, global entry is another thing you need to be focused on. This is again a traveler's card. If you are a traveler, you need this card.

If not a traveler. This really doesn't really benefit you as much as other cards would. So this is a traveler's card and what they offer is they offer tsa pre-check or global entry. All right, tsa pre-check is 85 every four and a half years.

Global entry is 100 every four and a half years. They do the same thing. The only difference is global entry gives you access back into the country of the united states, quicker and also tsa, pre-check included. If you just buy the tsa pre-check bundle for 85 you're.

Only getting tsa pre-checking you're, not getting access back into the country quicker and they are both free american express - will cover this credit for you as a statement credit as long as you use your amx platinum card, every four to four and a half years. So that's another thing you need to make sure you're focused on it is amazing. Get you through the tsa pre-check gives you expedited security through the airports. We are seeing tremendous travel right now, especially in places like the the hubs - big hubs, atlanta, chicago lax and amazing traffic.

It was just the holidays. People are starting to travel again. Tsa pre-check is a nice travel hack to have in the airport. If you're someone like me, i do not show up to the airport two to three hours before my flight.

Um often i'm typically arriving maybe an hour to 45 minutes before the flight or 30 minutes before the flight boards. So i need my tsa precheck and you do too speaking of credits for airports. One of the other things, i would say is the 179 clear credit. Clear is also another service that gets you expedited.

You know through the security and airports, and the good part about this is tsa. Pre-Check recently has become very, very popular. If you have a delta sky miles account, you automatically get a discounted rate. I believe it's like 19109, as opposed to 119 and then to sign somebody up for clear uh.

To put them on your benefits is an extra 50. So speaking, you could have yourself on clear and boyfriend girlfriend husband, wife. You know family member all for under 179. So you can get two people on clear for the total of a little bit, i think less than 179.

So this is definitely something you want to benefit from again. It does not hurt to have it they're giving it to you. Your annual fee is 6.95. You want to take this.

This is a traveler's card, and this is the tsa pre-check. Clear combo is an ultimate travel hack to get you through security, the 200 airline fee. Credit is another amazing thing to have right now. It is in terms of conditions per terms and conditions only supposed to be used for baggage seat.

Upgrades kind of you know pan for seats. Things like that make sure you select the airline. It is all in your benefits section on the american express website every year. You have to select your airline and once you select your airline you'll see a list of airlines.

You can choose. That's going to be your airline that you get the airline credit of 200 per year. There is a 200 uber credit that you get per year. You get 15 a month from january to november, and then you get 35 dollars in december for a total of 200 per year in uber credits, and you can use this obviously for uber rides.

It gets it loads to your uber wallet every first of the month and also you get to use this for ubereats as well. If i'm not traveling that month, i'll use it, for you know, for a free meal, somebody is going to be hungry or somebody's going to get an uber there's not a chance that you're going to be having this card and you're not going to be able to Get food delivery service, for you know once a month or if you're going to be able to you, know, use that and take an uber ride somewhere so definitely make sure using the uber credit as well. There is another 200 credit for fine hotels and resorts prepaid bookings in the hotel collection, prepaid bookings. Now the difference between fine hotels and resorts and hotel collection final test resorts can be one night, two nights: three nights: the hotel collection is a minimum night stay of two nights or more okay.

So my favorite one is the fine hotels and resorts it really really. Doesn't it really depends on your personality? Mine is final testing resorts. The thing i liked about final tesla resorts was this: we stayed in miami at the kempton, epic, hotel, um in brickell, so downtown miami and the room rate was about four and some change after everything was said and done, taxes and all that stuff uh, but minus The 200 credit it brought it down to 211 and then every day that you stay, you got sixty dollars, uh for a breakfast credit, so our dining credit. You got that for breakfast, so i brought it down from about 200 to about 140.

Okay. So you think about it like that yeah you're paying much up front, okay, you're, paying a little bit more upfront, but you do get a credit and it's good. Every year january, through december, there are some sweet spots, though i have seen some places where you can get a room for like 300 rare though it is rare um you get a room for like 300. You can really take advantage of it and also get like you know you get a specific, uh credit towards that place.

You might get like a 100 credit for drinks or credit for food and beverage or spa credit things like that. On top of the 200 credit that you're getting back, it's on prepaid bookings only, but it is definitely something that should be used. It is a new credit that just came out last year and i actually like the credit. I, like final testing resorts.

You get guaranteed. 4 pm late check out, which gives you the opportunity to really have a whole nother day to uh. You know enjoy yourself before you catch. You know a late flight back home.

You get a 100 saks. Fifth avenue credit, okay, and this is divided into two. So you get fifty dollars january to july fifty dollars july to december. What i do is i'll buy something for about 50 bucks.

60 bucks. I got a pair of pumas. Everyone sell for like uh forty five, forty six dollars. The best way to really maximize is to not go overboard with it to kind of break, even with these credits.

Typically so yeah, that's another thing, 100 tax avenue credit is something that you should use and again it's just cutting down on your annual fee. So why not you need to also for my travelers enroll in priority pass. You got to make sure you enroll, and most of these are going to be on your benefits. Page and it'll.

Tell you if you need to enroll on any of these, so um go down to your page and you'll, see priority pass, select, definitely good. This gives you access to about 300 lounges worldwide about 40 airport lounges in the united states. I'm sorry for 40 different airports in the united states, which is good right. So it gets you access to airport lounges, like the clubs in atlanta, if you're stuck in an airport - and there is a delay or if you want to go to the airport and get some nice food, they typically have a nice selection of foods.

Bathrooms are clean and it's a little bit more private, though they can get busy. It's not as busy as sitting in front of everybody. At the airport charge your phone get some free alcoholic beverages, free beverages, nice, food, just relax, or you can take a nap like. I said at the minute suites and prior to covid, i think, they're starting to open up now you were able to take showers.

You know based upon availability, so definitely something you want to enroll in the benefit from. If you are a traveler like myself, enrolling in shop runner is awesome. Shop running gives you free two-day shipping for things, it's something that you need to enroll in, because it's right there, it's! Why not shop runner is a good thing to do and it does come in clutch when you do want to order things like i said i use my saks with avenue credit twice per year and when i you know pay for my um, you know whatever i Buy i get shop, runner free, two-day shipping, so it comes quick. You want to enroll in hilton gold status, hilton gold status.

If you stay at hilton, you know what that is you typically, you got to earn that by staying, but you get that complimentary. With the american express platinum card and it's really nice, you get uh upgraded, rums get snacks. When you come into the airport, you typically get checkouts and again, like i said, room upgrades when available and the best part about it is it gives you a head start to get the diamond status, so diamond status is pretty cool to have it. Actually, i actually reached diamond status this past year, but i wouldn't it wouldn't - have been possible without starting at hilton gold.

So definitely something you want to get yourself involved with if you're staying at hotels, which you should be. If you got this card, you also receive marriott gold as well. Mario gold is very nice. You can receive lifetime status just for having the amx platinum card for a certain amount of time and it automatically giving you gold every year.

It is a good service. If you stay at mayor out a lot again, it gives you a head start to the next status with marriott. Let's talk about status matching really quickly. I have a video right here for you guys, you can check it out, it's up there somewhere.

This is something that's really not talked about, not something american express puts on their page, but i take advantage of it just to kind of sum it up. I get a lot of value with this. I get a complimentary trip every year to atlanta's bahamas before taxes and fees. Last year we went to bahamas for four nights, five days, four nights and yeah, obviously before paying for food and drinks and all that stuff, you could stay there with the taxes.

I stayed for about forty dollars. No atlanta's in bahamas cost about 300 a night to stay there. I got free access to the water park, you get that and you get that from status matching from hilton to some of the casinos so from hilton to windham to caesars. If you're saying, if you like to do vegas, you know with caesars, you get no resort fees in life.

You get room upgrades, you get gold status, you get free nights. It is amazing, so definitely watch this video. If you want to learn more about it, it is a video within itself, that's about a good 15 minutes, but it's very educational. I call myself the status match king, because i definitely do i actually just found out that i got a free cruise from on a royal caribbean.

I believe it is. I don't. Do i've never done a cruise, but next year i can do it this year. I can do a free cruise because i have caesar's diamond and i status match that over to a um, a ship status, all from american express platinum, it is within itself a video, so definitely go.

Watch that centurion lounges delta sky club lounges is another benefit. Centauri lounges are going to open it up very, very quickly around the around the globe and you get that at the airports. Okay, so if your priority pass is too busy, you can go into the centauri. Lounge does the same things: free drinks, some nice warm food.

I actually like those lounges better than priority pass and it's an american express brand lounge and you can only get in if you have an american express platinum card or hire the black card all right. So that's another lounge, the delta sky club, american, express and delta have a partnership. So as long as you have a flight itinerary on delta, you don't have to pay for the flight with the amx platinum car, but as long as you're flying delta, you can go into the delta sky club lounges for free um, free drinks, free food, all the Stuff that this or not the centauri lounge offers as well, but between the centauri london delta sky club they're, the equal to me, i like them the most before priority pass lounges. So, yes, having this platinum card is amazing.

This is also new if you are somewhere. I'm not, i don't benefit from this, unfortunately, but you do get equinox credits as well for 300 per year and it's divided into 12 um for the year. Obviously, but you equinox credits. So if you're someone who does online equinox workouts or if you go to equinox the gym in person, you get to use that for certain things again, i'm not going to talk about this in too much this one.

More so is a lifestyle, um change. I don't value this at all. I actually give it zero for me because i don't use it at all. I don't go to equinox um just too expensive to me to justify and it even if i didn't wan na, justify it to see what it was like.

I don't live anywhere near equinox, gym and the online membership. Just doesn't i don't like online workouts i like to be in person and do things like that. So for a lot of us, we really don't benefit this one, but if you do benefit, i wanted to put it down there. This is something that you want to take advantage of.

You also get a 240 entertainment credit um, it's divided by 12. Again, if you don't know, that's what american express does they'll give you a credit and you can't use it all. It's divided into 12.. I use mine for peacock peacock plus, i believe it's like 10 or 12 bucks and uh.

That's what i use it for, but you can also use it for like audible and things like that and you get the better membership. So you might get things like no ads, no commercials and things like that again. Another credit we already used peacock the free version, but an annoyance to it is the ads when you're watching something really well. So if american express is giving that to you, you may want to take advantage of it.

You also get a 155 annual walmart plus credit. I believe you get free delivery over a certain amount of money and uh. It's really actually helped me score. Playstations uh this past year i scored three playstations because i had walmart plus and you get priority um and first dibs, and if anybody knows playstation 5's are hard to come by right right now.

Still, the resell market is crazy, with playstation 5's right now and i was able to score three and it wouldn't have been possible without american express and that walmart plus credit that you get every year. I wouldn't have, you know, probably even thought of buying it. So definitely clutch in that instance. You also have the concierge service.

If you are a traveler like myself, i like concierge, they can get you tickets, they can book you in restaurants or fully booked. They can also get things like flowers or i had a time where i needed a belt, delivered to my hotel room and there's been times. I've ordered flowers for my ladies i've gotten her some personal items that she may have needed. While she was traveling as well.

Concierge is your best friend it is it really the value on that depends on how much you use it and how successful they can be, but they do a great job of what they do with the concierge service. I would also say look into your american express offers. American express offers are good. They typically tend to look at what you do and kind of target the offers towards you.

I've seen things for delta flights like if you spend 300, you get money back. Well, people, you know they're traveling right now, so of course, they're going to use delta. I really benefit from the amex offers. If you stay at hilton and you spend 300, you might get a certain amount of money back.

So it's money you're, going to probably be spending anyway. Amex offers out of all the offers for for any other bank that i have. They typically give me the best offers. I would also say, authorized.

Users is a big thing. Authorized users spend is great um. Obviously, you get more membership reward points for that spend it helps that authorized user establish and maintain and build credit and again it gets you to your spending goals faster. So if you have goals, if you're trying to reach a sign up bonus and things like that, authorized users really help as well.

The last thing i'll say is rental car status. I typically do things like toro, you get rental car status with enterprise hertz and i believe, avis as well, and obviously you'll get like expedited service. You'll, get discounts and things like that. So, if you're, someone who likes to do road trip traveling and you value status with rental car status, american express gives you a head start.

So now this video was long guys, but i wanted to really give you as much as possible on what you should be doing. If you have this card, this is really a traveler's card. Mostly, we do see that american express is kind of integrating lifestyle into this, but this is still a travel dominant card for the year of 2022, and this is things that i do every year i value this card. I may spend about 695 dollars per year with this card, but for my own personal um numbers and things like that, i get at least 15 to 2 000 1500 to 2000 per year in value.

So if you take that 1500 figure and you minus that by 6.95 you're going to get about 805 dollars and again it really depends on how much you use the card your mileage may vary. But if you're using all of these benefits, it is really hard to go wrong. I hope you guys enjoyed this video. If i missed anything, please comment it down below.
