Tesla’s Full Self-Driving system just got another update (version 10.9). The day before however, a software safety advocacy organization called “The Dawn Project” placed a full-page advertisement in Sunday’s New York Times, calling Tesla FSD “the worst software ever sold by a Fortune 500 company” and urging the public to not be “crash test dummies for thousands of Tesla cars” with FSD. The ad was paid for by Dan O’Dowd, the CEO of Green Hills Software, a company that provides operating systems to automakers, as well as the aerospace industry and direct competitors of Tesla.

Hey this is tom, and this is a story about dan o'dowd, the man who started off being irrelevant and obscure just a few days ago. Nobody cared about him now to becoming a joke. The software, it does not work, never seen anything. No one's ever put out a product that that every eight minutes it tries to do something dumb.

That's i put out a reward of ten thousand dollars for someone who could show us a single product that fails that often and does the wrong thing dan. Oh dowd. The most obscure person on earth - nobody has ever heard about spent six figures. Yes, this gentleman spent six figures on a new york times.

Ad bashing, tesla, basically saying do not be a tesla crash test dummy basically going at the full self-driving software of tesla and what he forgot to mention in this ad, which he spent six figures on. I mean my guy. If you have so much free cash flow. I mean donate it put it to a good cause and add against tesla.

You really have that much money. The dude actually went on tv and got confronted by cnbc. Why are you doing this? I know you tweeted about it and then elon musk has had some responses to someone else, tweeted that it's so weird that the most vocal critics of full self-driving always have a huge financial interest in a competing solution and musk responded to that. Indeed, do you have a huge financial interest in a competing solution? Is that part of the reason that you even started looking at this technology and are so critical of it to their credit, i'm going to tell you right now.

Cnbc actually asked them some tough questions, because the ad never specified one important component or one important piece of information, which is that dan o'dowd is the founder and ceo of a company called green hills. Now green hills is a company that develops software that is being used by bmw, gm and all sorts of tesla competitors to build their own full self-driving capabilities, uh. Well, no um, i mean a financial interest in a way i have no. As you guys say, i have no financial interest in tesla.

No short positions puts anything like that. My my entire financial uh uh interest in tesla is i own three of them. I own three teslas, i own two roadsters on a model: s um - that there's no financial interest. If people say you know financial interest, it can you say i'm a competitor.

I help bmw. I help daimler uh, all the big companies gm. We supply software for those people to do it, and that gives it uh us information. But actually i say if who better, to find out the problems in your product than the competitor.

If back pedaling was a sport, this guy would have been an olympic champion. So essentially, he got asked a very tough question. Are you not a competitor of tesla and he immediately says? Well, no, then he goes to the humblebrag, which is the rich man's playbook, basically saying: well, i own three teslas hardy har har. If you own three tesla's mother lover, why the hell are you wasting our time? With this i mean we understand that you're, a rich prick right, let's get over that, basically, by the time he answers the question he goes and actually explains.
Well, i provide software that certain competitors of testa are using to build their own full-sip driving, and that makes me maybe a competitor, but what's better than the competitor to criticize their competition. So, first of all, let me ask you this question: if you ask a simple, yes and no question that should be answered either in yes or no, a completely binary question and the mother lover takes three minutes to answer. You know exactly what that means. He full of so whenever i hear somebody you know bobble and weave through a three-minute session of answering a simple, yes or no question.

I immediately tell you like his credibility is trash. I mean he's full of. However, what's even worse is it's just back peddling logic, which is kind of amusing? I mean he starts off with nominal competitor and ends with well i'm kind of a competitor, but what's better than the competitor to criticize objectively their own competition, which is kind of the worst logic award on earth kind of and here's what i think happened here. So the guy owns three teslas and obviously, as you can see from his ad, he had to rely on old youtube videos of old, full self driving just to cheer pick some data to make his point, but obviously, from the ad you can see, he doesn't have Full self driving having three teslas and no fsd - i mean he's - probably just salty he didn't get in, and this is his way to backlash.

But in all seriousness, this is what i see here: a rich guy too much money to throw around spends six figures on an ad bashing his competitor and doesn't have actual first-hand analysis of the software. Relying on all the ass youtube videos of previous versions to make his point to cheer pick some data and make them look bad now. This is just another syndrome of the entire mainstream media and the competitors spending so much energy and time trying to bash teslas. How much money is being spent so much energy? Everything is going towards hating tesla.

However, they completely misunderstand how this works. If you want to get better, if you want to beat the best you got to beat the best, so focus on yourself make your own products better. Why are you spending time and energy and money bashing? The competition focus on you and i'll. Tell you a little story about 15 years ago, i was doing a presentation for a client and we had all the team there and the partner that was working on my side and then the meeting was over.

I was convinced i killed it. I completely destroyed our competition. I showed them why we're the best et cetera, et cetera, et cetera, so the clients leave and the partner comes up to me said: listen tom. That was a really good presentation, but you botched it it's worthless to us.
We're not gon na get the client. I said why he told me: listen once you start talking about our competition, how bad they are. You completely remove the foundation of your argument. Nobody wants to hear about the competition and why they're bad? Let's talk about us, let's focus on us because once you start trashing the competitors, you look like an idiot and that's why they're never going to work with us and we did lose that account taking away some compliments from cnbc just go to the main page right Now, there's a front page article saying hedge fund manager tells you to forget about tesla focus on these three cheap evs instead and he names ford and vw.

So the amount of fud money, resources and energy that being invested into bringing down tesla instead of them focusing on themselves, it's actually pretty amusing, because all elon has to do here is just tweet one meme or one joke, and he gets more pr more cloud than Any of them combined and he does it with zero effort and zero dollars, how about them apples and going back to dan o'dowd. I mean, i don't know the guy. I've never heard about him before i'm sure in a few days. We'll all forget about this irrelevant, rich guy with three of his own teslas.

I don't care. The problem is once you put out a six-figure ad in the new york times, bashing, tesla and you're, not disclosing that you have relationships with their competitors. That means to me you're, full of and i'm never going to take you seriously and i'm sure, there's a lot of people who feel the same way as me, and what it proves to me is that dan o'dowd is trying to protect and save his trash, outdated Software by bashing the competitors because he can't compete. I think that instead of spending six figures on this new york times ad, you could have just bought some tesla stock because they're about to take your lunch and your competitor's lunch and put you out of business.

So might as well invest right a better use of six figures instead of buying that piece of ad you, mother.

Any bets that his model S is an older one with Mobileye AP? The roadsters don't even have AP AFAIK. So not like he's actually tried FSD. What a total 🤡. He's crapping himself. That this comes out now is clear validation of Tesla's approach and lead in the space.

I find it interesting that all the customers/auto OEMs he mentioned are companies that have stated they are transitioning away from using embedded software (that his company Green Hill Software provides) in their cars to developing their own "auto-OS" (like Tesla). The of use of embedded software was often the excuse given by OEMs as the reason they were not able to use alternative chips to navigate thru the chip storage like Tesla did.
