Again, if you're not looking at the points, it's so easy for them to take them, because it just takes time for you to realize all right, guys, i'm not sure exactly how to start this video. But someone stole all of my credit card points that i had with chase in my chase account. I had roughly 600 to 700 000 worth of chase ultimate reward points, and all of that has been taken. So in one of my last videos i talked about how i got my identity stolen.

I talked about how they logged into my chase account. I never would have guessed that they went into my chase account to transfer all my points out for gift cards, which they did so i just discovered this today because i was scripting another video hoping to do a reflection of this year and how many points i Was able to accrue and just gather some information on where we're sitting, with our credit limits and our credit card points and our balances uh. But i woke up to hear some unfortunate news. As soon as i had logged into my chase ultimate rewards portal - and i saw that my point balance was zero among all my cards.

I knew that this was what happened a few weeks back when they logged into my account. So i don't want this video to be completely negative. There's definitely learning lessons out of everything i called chase. I actually dm them on twitter as well, in order to get this taken care of and, most importantly in this video, i just wanted to share with you exactly what my experience has been in trying to recover.

Almost, i would say three four thousand dollars worth of points in a matter of minutes, so what i wanted to do next was share with you my experience as a identity theft victim going through the fraud department going through the process of trying to get my points Back, let me say, out of this whole thing: i've learned that it is very time consuming. It is one of the most stressful things that i've gone through within this past year, and i would never want anyone to go through something like this either earlier today. When i did contact chase, i was connected to one customer support rep. She did a great job at helping me out with the situation and at the time of this recording they actually refunded me back 200 000 ur points.

The issue is, i'm still missing about 400. 000 plus worth of ur points, but right now we did get a third of that full amount back. So i can't complain there. If you didn't know chase actually does spend a good amount of money in their own fraud department to cover people like us.

I specifically asked a rep earlier if this was a common issue and i need to emphasize this is a very common issue and apparently a lot of hackers have the tendency to go into people's account, not drain their bank accounts, but actually go for their points, because People check on that balance. Less often, if you're someone like me and you're sitting on well over half a million points in your account, i would check up on it every now and then i would make sure that you have your security installed and please do not use the same password on All of your accounts, lastpass is one of the solutions you have. You don't even have to use my affiliate link. I literally have been using a password generator and, if i had not been things could have been way way worse.
I also went into the redemption history on my ur portal, just to see how this hacker wanted to take out my points. They did transfer a couple out to another bank account and i asked the rep well. Can you guys like follow up with that, and they say they tend to cash it out for gift cards and they tend to transfer it and when they do transfer it, they will oftentimes transfer it to another victim before trying to get it through another account. So they just have a web of different accounts.

I thought this was something where i got targeted, because i do youtube, but it turns out. She told me that a lot of people get impacted by this and when i talked to her on the phone it didn't seem like she was surprised. She was surprised at how many points we had. I think your average consumer has maybe 10 20 30 000 points in their account.

Not many people are gon na. Have this many points? So if you are someone who does happen to have a lot of points and you publicly state that i would say, make sure that you double down on your security, because the last thing you want is for someone to take it all. So the person who did do this took out a whole bunch of nordstrom digital gift cards uh. They did it in 40, 000 point increments of twenty thousand digital gift cards, which was two hundred dollars each.

So they just did this multiple multiple times now moving forward. I know that i'm going to get the rest of my points back. I do have to give chase a huge shout out because their customer support department has been nothing but great to me throughout this whole process. I really like the fact that they covered my points.

I really like the fact that they didn't have to ask me twice, and the only thing that i had to do on my account was to create an identity theft report. I believe, once you actually have the report filed onto your account and something actually fraudulent does happen. The reps will do whatever they can in order to assist you and make sure that you get those points back to your account. I thought they wouldn't be able to get my points back.

I thought they were lost because the person who actually got them cashed them out for gift cards and i think, that's pretty hard to get back. But i think this is all coming out of chase's pocket, which is actually pretty phenomenal. It makes sense to me why they aren't being aggressive with credit cards. It makes sense to me that maybe fraud right now and the amount of people who are defaulting and paying credit card debt is a lot higher than we expected, and maybe this is why chase is being a little bit more low-key about approving these credit card applications.
So out of everything going on, there's always a learning lesson for the people who think i would fake a situation like this because i had like two people think i made this up. First of all, i don't have the emotional capacity to do that. Second of all, it's just not worth doing all of that going through the effort, photoshopping or. However, i could do this to make content on it.

I'm sharing with you guys my life experience and hopefully, in me, being a victim of these type of situations. I'm able to help one person now, maybe one of you guys watch this video. You change your password or maybe you discover that hey. I got all my stuff taken like months ago and i thought my sister or my wife used up all my points but turns out you had your points hacked they turned it into gift cards whatever okay.

As long as i can help one person out, i did my job here and i'm just gon na ignore the people that think i'm creating this type of fake content. This makes no sense guys that was it right there, like always. Thank you all so much again for watching, even though this type of stuff sucks, even though i thought i dealt with it and i'm still dealing with repercussions about a week ago, i actually received a letter in the mail that i had opened. Another bank account which i didn't do so apparently whoever did steal my identity applied for way more things than i actually found.

Out of so i'm still dealing with a lot of the things regarding identity theft, but my information now is more secure than ever. I have backed everything up and i was able to help a few people out with some of the videos i made. Thank you all so much again for watching this video. I hope you guys have a good one.

Don't forget to check out the links down below in the description if you guys are trying to invest check out robinhood down below you can get one free stock. If you use my link down below in the description great app to start with, i'm actually up almost. Let's check in the past three months, i'm up 14, 533 or 21. That's freaking crazy! I donโ€™t know too much about companyโ€™s security however I wonder how protected Chase is? I have absolutely no bank accounts or credit cards with Chase however 2 months ago I had received two letters saying that I was being sent to collections for two bank accounts that I was delinquent in.

I called Chase freaking out because Iโ€™ve never had this happen before, they connected me to the fraud department they had to send an affidavit out to me and also had to make a police report and send them a copy of that.

They told me whoever did it open two bank accounts in my name over the Internet. What sucked is, I was in a head on collision with a drunk driver on a Turnpike Oct 8th then I had to turn around and deal with this a month later lol. Itโ€™s been a busy few months for me.

I saw an e-mail claiming it was Chase and the e-mail stated that the account has been locked because multiple attempts was done to log in to my account. I did not click on the link rather I went directly to the Chase website and noticed I did not had a problem so I just deleted the e-mail

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars sleendrvr says:

I have to say I think its a little bit of BS that they couldn't track down where the cards went to. All the thief had to do was switch it between a few accounts and like magic they disappeared.
C'mon Chase let law enforcement know where they went! Dont just brush it off.

So obviously your account security wasn't exactly great. There's no other way your account could've been compromised, other than you failing to protect it adequately.
