What's up everybody welcome back to the channel. My name is Walter, this, the credit-card national channel I'm so today's video is gon na be about the American Express Membership Rewards. So recently, American Express has been doing a lot of changes. We just seen the Amex got four points per dollar on restaurants worldwide, which is pretty awesome.
They're kind of making a lot of changes priority pass, the restaurants are no longer there. The lounges are still there now here is one to today's video American Express is going to be changing the membership rewards and how you earn them, based off of how you pay so pretty much we're going to get right into this. Video just make sure you like subscribe, you fellas hopeful, let's get right into the video okay, so first I want to kind of just put a disclaimer out there. This is, it looks like it's definitely gon na be official.
It looks like it's already terms and conditions. I do want to give credits a doctor of credit calm, so I'm definitely be putting that up here, but everyone just kind of to take a look with me, guys so pretty much. What this is saying is membership. Reward points will be changing.
There's a couple. Other things here that we're going to be looking at, as you can see like employee cards and things like that also started in June 6 to blue card. The blue AMX card would no longer arm. Membership were war points, but one of those really really big is starting an effective September 1st 2019.
You must pay your bill by the payment due date instead of the closing date of the next billing period. If you don't you'll forfeit any membership reward points earned that period. So now here's my thing with that I'll see nothing wrong with it. I mean I'm guessing.
Maybe Amex had a lot of people, maybe paying late things like that, but it's not really a big change. It's really gon na affect so many people. It's not like. You have to pay the whole balance.
Let's say, like you have a balance of $ 2,000, but when your bill kind of cut you only really old, you know maybe 1500 so you'd have to pay that whatever it says, do payment do 1500 payment do whatever we have to pay that before that specific, Due date, which we're supposed to be doing anyway, right so I mean, if anybody kind of you know, watches my channel or any other other channels, all the great tremens we I had we have out here. As far as you know, people who influenced to kind of pay your bills on time with credit cards and to use kind of for travel and things like that. We already talked about paying the balance and for one because it's gon na save you money on interest. It makes you look good.
It helps out your credit score tremendously when you have a zero balance, and you know things like this happen. I'm summing yeah, I'm guessing Amex has some type of issues with people not paying your bills on time, but they were still getting two points which is kind of you know a benefit to the consumer, but then Amex is losing money, so they're trying to save that Money and, logically speaking, I mean that's, that's cool and there's nothing wrong with that. I think that's pretty awesome for the company to do that kind of protect our assets and particularly any other points that I'm gon na kind of show you a picture of the terms and conditions again. All this is from the doctor of credit website. So this is, you know, definitely shout out the doctor of credit calm, but this is also found on the website as well, and it kind of is pretty much like. I just kind of just showed you effective. You know September 1st you're gon na kind of see where they're gon na be changing the way eligible cards. Won't you know kind of get their points and again you just got to make sure you pay whatever is due on the day it's due.
So it's kind of pretty simple, but I kind of wanted to just give you the update, because Amex are dead going, so many changes right now and so far everything has been pretty well definitely lovin the 4x on the you know worldwide for restaurants. That's pretty awesome! We're at first it was just us only so now it's worldwide, which is good, because now this pretty much tells me Amex, is one they're trying to do better. You know a lot of people. A lot of places don't accept Amex outside of the US, but if they're making this worldwide, then that tells me Amex is trying to make places more widely accepted with Amex.
So that's you know two things about that. It's just really awesome! Okay! So that's the video for the day. Let me know how you feel about this. I mean pretty much.
This pretty plan is simple. Just make sure you pay your payment when it's due to make sure you get your points honestly, you always thought that's how done now. Typically me personally, this is a little tip. I always call to accelerate my points because it's pretty much a month behind as far as a point you earned, so I call them to get my points accelerating and they do that for me all the time, I'm not too sure if that's going to change or Not, but that was today's video give me a thumbs up.
That is the new YouTube algorithm, supposedly so, if thumbs ups are really going to help guys and promise, please the thumbs up. Definitely in the comments definitely subscribe. If you haven't we're so close to 2,000 subscribers and make sure you are subscribed, we're doing the Amazon giftcard giveaway once we hit 2,000 subscribers, so everybody thanks so much for tuning in have a good day.
Because you ask so nicely I gave you 👍🏼
It's the blue student card that will lose ability to earn reward points, not the regular blue card.
Love the changes on the Amex Gold, just not accepted as much as MC or Visa internationally.
I'm really looking forward to 4x on Dinning worldwide. Boba tea in Taiwan and coffee in Italy will be great.
👍🏾
Now here’s some wishful thinking. If they would bundle the Platinum and Gold categories together in one card AND add travel protection then they’d really be a true competitor to the Sapphire Reserve and Citi Prestige. These both offer dining and travel, AND protection in one card and both are still LESS than the Platinum annual fee. As it stand..in order to get travel and restaurant categories with Amex one has to have both Platinum and Gold cards to the tune of $800 in annual fees….and again, still have to purchase 3rd party travel protection. They’re making strides in the right direction…just not good or fast enough. Com’on Amex, lets get it. If Citi or Chase were to ever ink a deal with American Airlines as a transfer partner I’d ditch American Express in a heartbeat and never look back.
As for the 4X on dining world wide…yes, a step in the right direction. Acceptance will still be an issue and they really do need to lock down on this mis-coding. I’ve had to make a couple of calls about very popular chains that are stateside that didn’t code properly.
Thanks for the helps up. I agree, the new terms regarding payment should be no issue of anyone on this here channel as we don’t carry balances…well I’m hoping no one here does as it negates any points earned.
Thanks for the tip. Learned somthing new
