Welcome back to the channel today's video is going to be confirming the changes that the Chase Sapphire Reserve card had a few months ago. Maybe even a couple of videos ago, actually couple videos ago, I put out a video with speculation, but we didn't know what the changes were gon na be or if never going to be any changes today, I'm gon na get into all that, for you guys, let's Get right into it, alright, so, if you guys have any questions, definitely feel free to ask me. Put the comments below put the questions below I'll answer. Each comments to the best of my ability, people who have read about it, who know about it, feel free to answer it to help me out help the community out all the community, but let's get right into it, so Chase Sapphire Reserve, if you don't know, is One of the premium travel cards out on the spot and a big competitor to that as the American Express Platinum Card right now.

The annual fee for Amex platinum is 550 and that's what the Chase Sapphire reserved card is doing and it's going to depend based on when you got the card. If you have the car, so let's go right into it. So, as of January 12th, you will January 12, 2020 you'll see a lot of different changes. One's gon na be an annual fee.

So if you decide to apply on January 13th, you're going to be in charge five hundred and fifty dollars from the get-go, not with the first year, if you already had to chase out five reserve card and let's say you're renewal month is in March, so like Let's say you're going to be charged in March this year. You apply maybe March. Last year, a couple years ago, you're and you're --, you still going to be 450, which is awesome, but anybody April, first or after will be charged 550. So let's say you applied in September of last year: you're going to be charged 550 because it's after April, first 2020.

Okay! So that's the bummer! But hey! If you are before April and you already have - the cards are good for one more year for 50 2021. It comes to 550 all right, so that's gon na be the change now, let's get into what they're actually going to be changing for the extra hundred dollar annual fee hike, and let me know what you guys think, and I also gave you guys my opinion as Well so the first thing I'm going to give to you is going to be something called lift pink. This is the first time I'm hearing about it. I don't do lifts that much as I'm, not in the city, so I don't really necessarily need it.

To this extent, so lift paint typically cost as $ 19.99 per month. Okay, so do the math 20 times 12, and you would get that Mathis, how much it cost see here, and this gives you 15 % off of all of your rides. You also get free like scooters and bicycles, including city bike, which is pretty awesome. You also get priority Airport pickups and you get more flexibility when it comes to cancellations and all that good stuff.

So it's really cool and then you're getting a 15 % off of your rides, which are also paying this service just twenty bucks a month to have this they're also getting free bicycles, including city bike, which is pretty cool, especially for places like New York. Those big places like that you get free city bike every month or something like that, so that's pretty cool you're, also going to be getting and again that is free for just one year. So let me just make sure we radiate that that is only for one year after the first year of that it's over okay, now, let's go over with the door so with American Express they have uber and uber each door and lyft is which Chase is going After so pretty much to kind of hey, you do door I'll! Do goober you'll! Do this al! You do GrubHub I'll do door, so Chase is going to give you 120 dollars and door credits. Now this difference between Amex because Amex they like to break it down and every month and give you 15 a month chase, does not care you're going to get a hundred and twenty dollars in credits, but here's the crazy part, 2020 you'll get sixty 22-21.
You get sixty, but you can use it. However, you want to so you want to go ahead and blow it all, which is not really hard to blow 60 bucks on door. You got delivery fees and you might have a party. So that's probably like a good one or two mils, maybe one and a half honestly, you can use 60 this year and then you'll be able to use 60 January 1st 2021.

But after that two years it's over so and there's no, you know we don't know anything else about it. There's gon na be another contract. I'm gon na serve maybe they're kind of just maybe doing it like this to maybe see how this is going to work out before they continue to do this, but that was a little strange too. So those are the differences, so you were now and you're.

Also going to be getting 10 ultimate reward points per dollar when you're traveling with lyft, so that's pretty good. So it's going to be 10x ultimate reward points per gallon, which is pretty good, but these are the changes that are going to happen now when, let's just let me give you my opinion and then you guys, we've got any questions, make sure you comment them. So I think honestly and I'm gon na, be I like to always be very straightforward and if a company does something wrong or does something good I'll give him the credit. This was bad, not bad, like you know, just like unethical, but just bad as in like this took a reverse step like it went backwards.

I don't think that the Shae, fibers or cart just got better, especially for the people who don't necessarily live in cities. Cities, like you know, I know chases, you know in big cities like New York and then I got it at Philly and things like that. But not everybody uses lifte that much to want to have lyft pink to get 15 % of all rise. I mean that's cool and then you know you're only giving us $ 60 again.

I don't have to chase our fire observer, so you're, giving your chase clientele $ 60.00 for the next two years, but there's no guarantee was gon na be after that, so not only after that happens, you're kind of just stuck with like we know what's gon na Happen next, I don't I'm not really a fan of it. I would have expected a little bit more. Maybe you know especially with the American so has platinum. Can I tell you man? This really confirms, like I am team Amex platinum over the chase.
If I reserved chlorine, if you guys watch my channel, you know this, and this is because they're just some things that no other car gives to you and though chase is same running and there are things better. So, for example, what's better than the sapphire reserve car? Sometimes it's um, you know very biased, is the trip. Delay is a lot better. You know Amex platinum, it's only round trip itineraries.

I'm you know chase off our reserve card doesn't matter. It can be one way around trip, that's good, but this was just a backwards step. I was expecting maybe some hotel status, maybe like hi. It's you know.

Maybe, like you know, Jason Amex has Marriott status and Hilton. I was thinking, maybe chase, go after high it or you know. I hid something that kind of really come more, so travel wise, but to really just throw in a full credit of sixty bucks and lift pink. I mean to me that doesn't justify if I'm in that situation, I'm not in this city and I'll people don't live in cities and if you do, some people who do live in cities have cars and it just really doesn't justify an extra $ 100 spike.

So I'm really hoping that I'm going to give chase, you know the opportunity to really redeem themselves and maybe let it kind of go because it really hasn't taken his course. Yet I want to see more from this for an extra hundred bucks. I was actually thinking about getting a sapphire reserve car for two reasons: the travel protection. Obviously the altmer reward points are awesome, but I you know I was thinking about getting this car, but with this 550 increase I like to get that value.

I don't see it. There's pros and cons to each car, but Amex platinum is still the winner in my book, man - and this is really you know. A lot of Chase is gon na. Do something to kind of be like a knockout punch to a mix.

You may be really trying to you, know, stand even, and it really just put a step back. In my opinion, I've been reading reviews on like different blog sites and a lot of people feel the same way. Let me know how you feel. I know I'm kind of just rambling right now, but I wanted to kind of give you some of my thought process when I saw this because as soon as I find out about is down, I can't wait to give it to you guys.

I can't wait to tell you guys: let's see what it is, we don't we've been talking about it and then we get this and it's just like all that anticipation and that's that's it. The only thing I could say this would be awesome and I would give a pro this is the prod. I will tip my hat to chase when Amex gave us a trip to they took away roadside assistance. Chason take away anything from you guys, so you still have your priority pass.
You still have your three hundred dollars. You can use for any type of travel or, however, you want to which is awesome. I just don't think this extra five fifty justifies the things that are given to you guys, especially because a lot of these things are gone within a year or two, so you know you're looking three or four years on the line. What is going to be the reason to keep this car for an extra hundred a month? I don't know so.

Let me know what you guys think got any questions. Let me know, I'm telling you how you feel I know I have a lot of people that give me like really awesome. You know, thought processes and how they feel about it. We have people who are team, Shaye's team, AMEX team city, whatever you are we're all in this community together.

I respect that. I love everybody's opinion. So let me know what you think with this: I'm sticking over to team Amex, platinum, all the way gold status, Hilton Marriott, doesn't really matter some Tori lounges when priority passes over a book, but just oversold just just so many different things. The concierge is amazing.

I'm actually using concierge right now for some type of surprising, I'm doing so Amex all the way the Amex offers always come clutch for me. They really kind of really helped me. They really know where I'm shopping. Obviously so Amex offers the transfer portal.

You know, transfer a membership more points out there really valuable. I'm team MX with it I'll gladly pay the five fifty and your fee with them there's a little bit more strip with how to do things, but it is what it is alright guys. Let me know what you think and if I get any more information about this I'll, let you know I'm happy. I was able to talk about it.

Chase is forever chasing Amex it kinda sucks cos UR points are great guess I’ll have to downgrade

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars MistaCloudStrife says:

I was dead set on getting this card, but after hearing about these changes and doing a bit of research, I'm leaning more towards the Amex Platinum now; and I didn't even know about it until I looked up the new changes and found comparison videos. I don't see myself using a premium doordash and lyft membership, but I do see myself ordering a free uber eats meal every month.

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jose Gonzalez says:

I was planning on getting the CSR but these changes killed it for me. Lyft pink is cool but only for 1 year. I'm now think about going for the charles schwab platinum. I would rather take that 1.25cp over saks 5th

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mr. Berry says:

The old breakeven point on a combined dinning & travel was $278 per month for the CSR. Now the new CSR breakeven point is $463 per month.

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars OC Guy says:

Chase totally dropped the ball I was on the fence to upgrade my CSP to the reserve glad I didn’t 👎 Amex green looks even better now

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars My Points Exactly says:

All of the sudden, the Citi Prestige looks like a really great card again

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Terrence Troope says:

I agree that Chase did take a step back

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Terrence Troope says:

I have both the Amex Platinum and the Chase Sapphire Reserve
Chase Pros: Much much better travel credit usage. Also, much better everyday use card for millennials…4.5% cash back on travel and food.
I love the look of my Amex but it’s only useful for me when I check into hotels to get the room upgrade. The $200 airfare credit is terrible and almost impossible for me to use.

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Gilbert Nicholas says:

I think AmEx will raise the AF on the Plat now because their benefits far outweigh the CSR for the same price

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars 2808 Heavy says:

I truly believe that Chase knew that this would piss some folks off. But I also believe they know the value of their product. Sure, there will be folks who leave because of it. But most of us who has their setup ain't gonna leave over this…and they know it. Do you think folks are going to give up their Chase Ink Business card, Sapphire Reserve, and Freedom card over this? Heck no! Again, are we thrilled, NOPE, but certainly ain't gonna give it up either. Why, because we can't get this with Amex. Amex does have the ability to do a setup but it cost more, their travel protection is more restricted, their card isn't accepted a great deal in Asia, and their travel portal stinks as they are often priced here than the other OTA (i.e. Expedia/Orbitz, etc).

So yea…I'm not happy about it as I'm sure lots of folks who are affected by this change isn't. But just like when Amex makes changes and increase fees you here folks gripe but will never give up their Platinum…same here…we will gripe but we ain't given up our setup because of it.

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars 2808 Heavy says:

I agree with you that this does suck…but they're all doing it. Chase increased the fee, gave some silly ride credit. Citi took everything away as far as benefits while also increasing the annual fee to $495. The noise at Amex isn't as loud because folks got travel protection which is sweet but they also ripped a bunch of stuff out and gutted some warranty benefits as well as roadside assistance, WeWork, and a few others at the same time.

They all play this game. We just have to find ways to win in spite of it. The Saks credit with Amex is one that makes me giggle. You know you're not a true Saks shopper when the first then you do at their website is hit that button that says "Sort Low to High" as you're trying to find the cheapest crap you can get to justify the card.

Amex shines a lot in other ways which is why I have their other products besides the Platinum…and the customer service is truly industry leading. But until they spot playing games with the travel credit, I still think the Citi Prestige (4th night x2 and $250) and even Chase (best travel protection of them all, $300 travel credit, Hyatt, Southwest for those who like them, and their travel portal) are still better options…for now.

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Vincent Pascual says:

I just downgraded my CSR to a second Freedom last week. The new CSR “benefits” are not useful to me. I don’t use food delivery services. Although I use rideshares a fair amount, I don’t think I use them enough to justify a Lyft Pink membership.

My credit card setup is centered around cash back. Some of my Chase quadfecta cards will still be useful (Ink Cash and Freedom depending on the quarterly category). I don’t have any Amex cards. I’m interested in some of them, but I’m not sure that I would want to get into accumulating MR points. I think that I would overspend in order to make up the annual fees and use the credits.

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mary pie says:

    I'm Amex platinum gal…

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars cherrygarciafan says:

None of these cards have any lasting value. Get the sign up bonus and cancel after a year. There’s always going to be a sign up bonus on another card. Always a better return than an existing card.

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ryan Lemieux says:

The Door Dash and Lyft are nice additions, only problem being they aren't applicable to too many users. $100 is a significant hike and I think bumping 3X categories to 4X or higher would have been more appropriate. Or… increasing the travel credit to $325 or $350.

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ocean Zhang says:

what’s CSP benefits look like now?

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Chase King says:

I’m a huge Chase fan boy but they screwed this CSR card and might be downgrading and going with the AMEX platinum. Chase is going to lose big with this change.

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars S2KDET says:

If I'm going to pay $550, I prefer to pay that money to the American Express Platinum. For the annual fee of $450 for the CSR was the better deal. Lyft for one year and Doordash for two does not do absolutely nothing for me. So that $100 increase I'm not getting it in return.

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Domonique Williams says:

I definitely think this was a misstep by Chase. I'm a CSR holder and this adds 0 value for me. Like you, when the rumors were circulating I was hoping they'd add status with Hyatt or IHG. Or even something with southwest or united, but nope. My annual fee hit next month so I'm locked in at $450 for another year. After that though, I'm seriously thinking about downgrading.

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Young Investor says:

You might as well just go get the Amex platinum card for $550

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars The Credit Card Maestro says:

How do you feel about the recent Chase Sapphire changes? Comment below

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Fearlessly Underrated says:

I was already on the fence about adding the CF to my arsenal, due to discover it having better quarterly options.

Now I have no desire for a chase trifecta. I’ll keep my CSR, but keep primary focus on my Amex Eco system.
