Whenever a company is on the rise, it is almost inevitable that a Chinese clone of that company is created. When it comes to Tesla, the company is no different than the others, as there are many Tesla clones across China. In this video, I discuss whether these Chinese clones have a chance at competing with Tesla.

Whenever a business gains traction outside of China, it's almost inevitable that a Chinese clone of that company is created, whether it's an uber knockoff, a Google for China or Chinese Netflix. China's copycats actually made quite a lot of money with the rise of Tesla and electric vehicles. In general, many Chinese entrepreneurs are using this as an opportunity to copy Tesla in this video. We're gon na take a look at some Chinese Tesla clones and compare them to Tesla to see if they stand a chance in 2014, two senior executives at the GAC group Henry she asked and he tile left GAC to star expain motors in an interview in 2018.

Xiao Peng the CEO admitted to starting expain, because Elon Musk made Tesla's patents available after being founded. The company was funded by large Chinese companies, including Alibaba Foxconn and IDG Capital. Another funding round in 2018 saw the vice chairman of Alibaba Joseph's. I joined the corporate board of expain Motors after these two rounds of funding.

Expain motors had a total of 500 million dollars by the time September came around the hype on the company had reached all-time highs, as a company had gotten a self-driving permit from the California DMV. In December 2018, the company launched the x-plane g3 SUV, a vehicle that ended up starting deliveries in the spring of 2019. The g3 SUV has an any DC range of 221 miles and a 47 kilowatt hour battery pack. However, keep in mind that that any DC's range test overestimates in comparison to the EPA range test.

The vehicle also goes from 0 to 50 km/h in 3.7 seconds, which translates to 0 to 31 miles per hour. All of this will cost 32,000 US dollars and after Chinese subsidies, cost 19 thousand US dollars. Needless to say, extang's first vehicle was a disappointment in comparison to Tesla. Nonetheless, the company continued to persist and may have taken it to the next.

In March of 2019, the ex paying head of perception, who is a former engineer of Tesla, was accused of stealing autopilot source code. The former Tesla engineer admitted to downloading the autopilot source code to his iCloud before air-dropping into his wife's laptop after downloading the code. He deleted 120,000 files on a school computer, disconnected his personal iCloud and deleted all his browsing history shortly after the engineer was also a former Apple employee before Tesla was spotted on Apple's campus leaving with a box of equipment. After that, he joined the exiting motors in hired a Tesla employee who had also worked on the autopilot source code.

Tesla took the trouble to court and the engineer claims that he deleted all the data prior to leaving Tesla, which I find incredibly suspicious. Nonetheless, there was no data that proved the engineer had the autopilot source code, and the case was settled shortly after in May of 2019 X, being officially launched. Its autonomous ride-sharing service in Guangzhou one month later explained release in electric sedan that had incredibly promising specs and features named the X paying p7. The X, paying p7 will come in two versions: the standard version and the long-range version.
The standard version will have a starting price of thirty four thousand five hundred dollars and have a range of 342 miles on the NEDC range cycle. The long range version price is still unknown and will have a range of four hundred four miles. The vehicle will go from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds, which translates to zero to 62 miles per hour. To put these specs in comparison with the model 3.

The model 3 has a any DC range that goes up to 419. Miles will go from 0 to 60 in five seconds and cost 43 thousand US dollars in China. Expain motors also advertises that the p7 will have Nvidia powered level 3 autonomy, which means that the vehicle will have conditional automation. Conditional automation is a level where the vehicle is able to reliably drive on its own on an ideal Road when that road is not ideal.

The human driver is expected to take over to put this into comparison. Tesla's currently drive in autonomy level of 2, so expain is claiming a greater level of autonomy than that of Tesla. The p7 will supposedly start deliveries by q2 of 2020, which means that we are beginning to reach the delivery phase. In November of 2019 X ping started two more hefty funding rounds and raised over 800 million dollars, allowing the company to reach a total valuation of four billion dollars.

In February of 2020, Jose announced a x-wings permit for self-driving in California was revoked because they weren't submitting a disengagement report, despite the California DMV constantly demanding for it. A disengagement is when the self-driving technology fails and the safety driver must take over X being refused to submit a report on how often their vehicles disengaged, which I find extremely suspicious overall, the X ping p7 has extremely promising specs, but the question is: will explain motorists Be able to deliver on its promises if any car manufacturer was a Tesla clone UCR would be the one. In 2015, the dent 28 year old, CEO of the company, launched a range of X, which looks incredibly similar to the Tesla Model. S, this Ranger X will have a range of 285 miles, half 348 horsepower and go from 0 to 60 in under 6 seconds.

However, these specs are not the impressive part about it. It is the price the Ranger X will cost us $ 30,000. However, I have a lot of suspicions about the Ranger X. First of all, the logo looks extremely similar to Tesla's, almost as it the CEO just molded the logo of Tesla, not only that, but the display looks incredibly similar to the Model S with her dimensions.

Being exactly 17 inches at the Ranger X reveal the company promised to show the vehicle, but a closer look at the vehicle shows that it was a reverse engineered Tesla Model S, cars, news, China did a comparison to the Tesla Model S and found that the wheelbase, The door pillars and the interior that nobody was allowed to look into were all the same. Despite this, the company is currently valued at 3.3 billion dollars. The AIC or the beijing automotive industry company is a chinese based company that, unlike the others on this list, actually assails. In the year of 2018, the company actually generated four billion dollars in revenue from electric vehicles.
These sales primarily came from the Bai C's cheap electric vehicles in 2018, Bai C launched a small SUV named the ext 60, along with the sedan named the EU 5, the ex3 60 cost just under twelve thousand US dollars after government subsidies and hasn't any DC 203 Mile range, with a 48 kilowatt hour battery, the EU 5, on the other hand, cost 19 thousand US dollars after subsidies and boasts in any DC range of 350 4 miles. With a 60 point, 2 kilowatt hour battery, this vehicle will go from zero to 100 kilometers. An hour roughly zero to 62 miles per hour and eight seconds. Clearly, the manufacturer can compete with Tesla when it comes to price, but not quality.

The whole reason why China product can sell in much lower price because they skip R&D phase. No significant cost when they just copy from others. 😒

Chinese trolls use English and Russian names. They flood Youtube to defend their Communist China Party's vision of conquering the world with their fake products. Let's think carefuly the next time we buy chinese products in the supermarket and online. If all people boycott or not buy chinese products then we can take the factories back to our own countries. Free Trade/Economy should not flirt with Evil Communism.

A car does not only consist of an engine and a battery, which offer good driving values. The safety of a car starts with the chassis, which must allow stable cornering and be able to absorb unevenness excellently. A car must have a stable passenger cell that protects the driver and passengers. This starts with absorbent materials and a sophisticated body that can absorb kinetic energy in the event of an accident to ensure the greatest possible degree of occupant integrity. This requires a great deal of experience and immense know-how. To cut a long story short: China's cars have none of this.

They can copy Tesla technology, but they can't copy Tesla's first and important ambition

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars johnnylogan22 says:

What does Chinese not copy LOL but they always seem to leave out one element that makes them equal or better so they are always lesser so why even pay attention unless you live in China

Now in this case Elon musk purposely released his patents for other people and companies and entrepreneurs to formulate their own companies and start their own divisions of electrical vehicles… Why is this so bad why do they have to make it a competition why can’t they just say this is a new upcoming company that is using the Tesla technology that was released from Elon musk instead of making it an unfriendly competition

I swear, why can’t things just work the way that they are supposed to, you’ve got one man that made a multibillion dollar company the best cars in the world and he can’t do it by himself to change the planets climate so it’s going to take many other people to start manufacturing like items like Tesla automobiles to make our planet go more green and every year it will get better and better, but we must produce these ads and channels as negative competition… Sad

These Chinese copycats are doing what Tesla wanted; creating greatly affordable electric vehicles for the masses. They'll keep cloning Tesla's tech, just like Huawei was cloning apple's, then eventually become extremely great top selling vehicles in China. I'll never buy any of their vehicles, but at least they'll be working towards a greener future…

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars alex Lo says:

I see it no relate to copycat anymore. As you see the litigation lawsuit filed in California end in nowhere.
Tesla always file against their former employees who do work for software.

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jason says:

thats the issue with china they will never lead because they have a followers mentality they cant come up with anything if there's nothing to copy

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Real World says:

I would never buy this, Tesla is the way to go

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Zebra Talk says:

I'm all for the advancement of electric vehicles, but I am not for theft. Coping is one thing. Everyone does, it. There is really no way for capitalism to work if innovations are not copied and spread. My issue is totally with the absolute theft of another's invention. I am okay with you coping with the recipe for the meal I cooked up in my kitchen. I am just not okay with you coming into my kitchen and stealing the ingredients needed to duplicate that recipe.

I feel it is only fair that if proven, no car company should be able to sell a car in the US that is obviously a back-engineered copy or a stolen directly from the company that designed that car. This should be mainly directed at foreign automakers but also used to protect automakers from domestic theft as well.

Although I feel this is how our government should protect US manufacturers (workers), I don't have any confidence they will. Where ever money is involved, politicians will fold and go with the money over America and American's best interest. This failure to protect American interest does not only fall on our government but international corporations as well. China (for example) is a very large market. American companies are drooling to be allowed to sell their products there and to sell Chinese products here in the US and elsewhere.

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ra Teodoro says:

It's NOT A ROCKET SCIENCE TO UNDERSTAND THE MOTIVE BEHIND ENTICING TESLA TO China. There's no Honest Mistake Here just a Grand Scheme. Only Moron and utterly greedy person without morale and conscience will do business in China today. Goodluck to all of them.
