Tesla has recently released a new software product: the Autobidder. This platform allows for Powerwall users to autonomously sell energy to utility companies across the country. In this video, I discuss why I believe the Autobidder has a lot of potential for profit in the future.

In late 2019, Elon Musk stated that Tesla's energy business would outgrow its automotive business. A large part of this potential comes from the transition to solar panels and energy storage in 2017. The global energy market was worth one point four trillion dollars. If Tesla was able to obtain just five percent of this market share, this would equate to seventy billion dollars of annual revenue.

Just two days ago, Tesla unveiled a new software product named the auto bidder which doesn't target US consumers, but rather utility businesses in this video. I'm gon na show you what the auto bidder is and why I believe it has a lot of potential for Tesla's business with the rise of Tesla's, solar panels and power walls. Many people across the globe are now generating a substantial amount of energy, seemingly out of thin air. However, a lot of this energy goes unused, which is where Tesla's auto bidder comes into play.

On Tesla's website, the company describes how the auto bidder provides independent power, producers, utilities and capital partners. The ability to autonomously monetize battery assets. Auto bidder is a real-time trading and control platform that provides value-based asset management and portfolio, optimization, enabling owners and operators to configure operational strategies that maximize revenue according to their business objectives and risk preferences. Essentially, what the auto bidder allows for is for everyday consumers to sell their energy to utility companies in Australia.

The government has paid for the installation of what Tesla calls a virtual power plant every home inside the virtual power plant has a solar panel in a power wall. These power draws are all connected via wiring and are also connected to a Tesla power pack, which is a larger energy storage that is able to store energy for a long period of time. The auto bidder is a software platform that allows the energy to autonomously be sent to the power pack and later on, be sold utility companies. This allows power wall users to generate revenue from their power wall during typical hours.

This energy isn't worth much, however, during a power outage, we see these energy prices skyrocket to astronomical levels, allowing the power wall users to generate a massive amount of profit. In just four months. Each household in Australia generated $ 225 in profit from Tesla's auto bidder because of these early successes of the auto bidder in Australia. Many other utility companies in the US are beginning to utilize the platform as a way to obtain energy at a low cost National Grid.

A utility company based in the US claims that users will obtain one thousand dollars per year if they add their power wall to the company's virtual power plants. Another utility company named Green Mountain Power is offering the Tesla power off for $ 1,500. As long as you add your power wall to their virtual power plants now this all sounds great, but many of you are probably wondering what does the auto bidder actually do outside of selling energy Tesla's auto bidder comes with five different features: price forecasting, load forecasting, generation, Forecasting dispatched optimization and smart bidding. These features allow for Tesla to generate passive income once the auto bidder is completely coated and it already is completely coated.
All Tesla needs to do is sell the platform to other utility companies for a subscription premium. The reason why this is such a smart idea is because it incentivizes power wall usage by enabling users to make money while allowing Tesla to collect passive income, while the profits may not seem apparent. As of now, the transition to energy storage systems is continuing to accelerate. Even Amazon added Tesla Power Packs to its UK facility in the Manchester Science Park.

These Power Packs deployed by Amazon are all using the Tesla auto bidder. Jeff Bezos, the CEO of Amazon, is literally the arch enemy of Elon Musk yeah he's still continuing to use Tesla's power packs. This just goes to show how powerful Tesla's products really are. Overall Tesla's, auto bidder is a smart addition that will help the company accelerate the transition to energy storage while generating cash on the side.

One more excellent product for consumers to convert themselves into producers and let their energy assets work for them. I am stoked!

So if I buy a solar system with Tesla powerwalls, can I join Autobidder? (I'm in Jersey for example)

If I could get 5% of the Chinese toothbrush market, I'd be rich too. You have no facts to back up the 5% market share.

How do they avoid the price to drop to zero if there’s bidding going between millions of batteries soon?

Thanks for the video. Where did you get the information that the Tesla Powerwall can supply power to the grid during a power outage?

National Grid is based in the UK no? its a British company. But yeah Tesla is making real strides in the energy sector and speaking of Britain, Tesla has applied to be a UK energy provider

Really good idea – where do I get one? and can I use my Tesla car as a Powerwall?

If I had some reasonable reassurance that my utility would allow this in my market, I would add rooftop solar and 2 power walls this year.

The autobidder also manages the biggest battery built by Tesla in South Australia

It sucks that Musk and Bezos have beef with each other. They could have made a unbeatable team. Hopefully one day that can come together and synergize.

Tesla is the best. We here in Australia love everything Elon. He has an open invitation to build anything he wants Here. We are good value 64.c to US $. Wisper is there's an ex-GM car plant going Cheap in SA.

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Clarence Snickers says:

It existed for at least a year so how is this a new product? Are you so desperate for new content that you’re recycling year old news?

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Rick Shaw says:

If this allows the Powerwall owner to automatically play the energy Futures market, I'm going to get one. Still wouldn't touch the stock,

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars jimmy moy says:

I dont really think tesla and amazon are competitors, maybe for space x but thats not even something measurable imo. Ones car, ones ecommerce/cloud. Tesla is more complimentary. Amazons biggest cost is probably transportation which tesla is lowering the cost. Truck and car. Where is tesla storing all that car data… maybe amazon..

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars zac astill says:

sorry to say mate but your story is wrong , the Autobidder software is only for utilities only , like the Hornsdale Big Battery in SA and not for everyday consumers that use a powerwall

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Barry Miller says:

I have good reason to believe that EVs may never exceed 50% penetration, but I now believe that Tesla will dominate that portion of the market. The company is ethical, and offers well designed, well integrated, safer solutions.

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Greg Muscutt says:

these utility companies could pay for say 1/2 of the cost of a home owners power walls for say a 3 year contract. many walls would be sold at 1/2 price
