Fiat Chrysler: automobiles is one of the largest harmony factors in the world. The corporation owns the most famous internal combustion engine brands, including Maserati, Chrysler Dodge via Alfa, Romeo, Jeep and Ram. These brands are most famous for not only their strong engines but also carbon emissions. These high emissions from Fiat Chrysler Plateau automobile company in a lot of financial trouble and eventually led the company to sign a deal worth two billion euros with Tesla in this video.

I'm going to explain how Tesla saved Fiat Chrysler in pocketed a gigantic amount of money, while doing so before I begin, please take a moment and hit the like button and subscribe. It really helps out with the channel, but that being said, let's get right into it. In January of 2014, the European Commission decided to create a deal where any automaker that has an average emissions of 95 grams per kilometer would have to pay a 95 euro fee for each gram above 95. Multiplied by the number of vehicles the automaker sold.

This deal would take place in 2020 and would have resulted in a massive amount of fees for Fiat Chrysler if it wasn't for Tesla, despite having over six years to prepare for the new regulations, most automakers innovated quite slowly. In 2018, the average emissions of all the vehicles in Europe still sat at 120 point five grams per kilometer well above the 95 gram per kilometer limit. To put this into perspective, if all the automakers in Europe were all joined into one and named European, auto European Auto would have to pay three hundred eighty two billion euros and fines in the year of 2018. These massive fees were about to bankrupt plenty of automakers, with Fiat Chrysler being the most notable one.

Evs even went as far as to state that Fiat Chrysler had the highest risk of not meeting the target. Michael Manley, the CEO of Fiat, Chrysler, looked at every option to get past these regulations, one of these included getting rid of the most polluting vehicles. However, if Fiat Chrysler was to do this, the company would have to cut its sales by a massive amount, as it would have to drop vehicles in Maserati, Jeep and Alfa Romeo. Another solution for Fiat Chrysler was to sell more electric and hybrid vehicles, but, as we all know, the automaker is extremely behind on EVs and plug-in hybrids.

Fiat Chrysler wasn't big trouble and frantically searched for a loophole in the system, which is where Tesla comes into play. Under the European Union rules, rival automakers could form a pool of emissions together. For example, Volkswagen was able to offset the emissions from Porsche and Audi by using C and Skoda with the clock ticking. Fiat Chrysler had to find a solution.

In 2018, with an average emissions of 123 grams per kilometer in nine hundred forty six thousand six hundred vehicles sold, Fiat Chrysler would have to pay two point: five billion euros and fines just in 2018, now being as desperate as they were. The company turned to Tesla at first Fiat Chrysler offered a few hundred million euros, but knowing how desperate the company was Tesla was able to negotiate it up to two billion euros. This effectively saved Fiat Chrysler from all. The trouble is bound to get Wow along Tesla to obtain a massive amount of cash.
According to the senior director of transport and environment, once you've set up the poll, it is valid for several years. This will stop time for Fiat Chrysler to transition to EVs and plug-in hybrids if, via Chrysler continues to be slow with its innovation. It's safe to say that another deal was on the horizon. It's called doing business with another company, happens every day. Why reinvent EV's when you can buy the tech from the market leader.

VW, BMW, MERCEDES, AND AUDI ARE ALL WORSE. BS VIDEO DUDE. You just stated Europe was on the hook for 382 billion, Fiat only accounted for 2 billion of that number. VW has no money because of their emissions scam, so who saved them?

FCA took 2 billion from EV development, gave it to Tesla to buy some time, but now they have less capital for use in developing EV and because of that, it will take even longer to develop a solution. Then they’ll have to pay more, then it’ll take even longer, then they’ll pay even more, then it’ll take longer ….

This has been going on for a long time and is not exclusive to fiat.

These legacy automakers are stupid. EV's put out way better performance than gas cars anyway. How many of these so called muscle cars can do 0-60 as fast as a P100D? If I were FCA I would be building Maserati and Dodge EV's to rival the Model S. If they are going to pay money to Tesla anyway, why not licence Tesla technology such as motors and batteries, or even the whole platform, to base their EV's on. That would be the smart way to move forward and preserve their brands.

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars mariox says:

I feel these carbon credits was just a way for government to destroy the auto industry to make Tesla the superpower of making cars. Fiat and other car makers should be bribing politicians to change their stupid "climate change" laws. I rather they wouldn't though, Tesla making me rich.

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Shock City says:

Chrysler and fiat are pos endless money pits

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Johnny Le says:

Wait, they were supposed to be fine $2.5 billion but they paid Tesla $2 billions instead? That’s not much saving. I mean that’s a lot but you can’t really say Tesla saves Fiat unless that 0.5 billion would cause the company to file bankruptcy

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Abyss Saint says:

Elon wants to save the world from these emissions yet he bails out fiat. Thats money over progress.
