Here’s what Tim thinks is the number-one thing too many new traders get wrong: They fall for the mainstream media. The media wants to try to fire you up. It’s all about getting you to click that link or watch that 10-minute segment. They’re not trying to give sound advice...
So be careful!
Also, this may be an unpopular opinion, but this is not the year for short selling. Yes, stocks go down … But there’s so much volatility and so many opportunities on the long side right now. If you’re caught on the short side as a new trader, you could blow up your account, fast!
And you must ALWAYS have a plan. Set a clear entry, stop, and goal. Don’t overlook any of these. Stick to your stops, keep your losses small, and keep your expectations realistic.
Next, how many traders are avoiding higher-priced stocks right now? If you target the right stocks, you’re looking at the most liquid stocks with some of the wildest volatility. You don’t have to fear them. Tune in for more detail and a great example with Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ: TSLA).
Last, avoid FOMO at all costs. With so many stocks in play, you can miss an opportunity and go on to find another! Have a plan, and be OK with missing plays.
