A lot of traders start with line charts … But to seasoned traders, line charts are borderline worthless. These charts show you the price movement, but they don’t tell how bullish or bearish the stock is.
Time to move beyond the line chart!
First, start with the Heikin-Ashi candles. They’re similar to Japanese candlesticks … You can still see the open and close price and the wicks with the highs and lows. It’s just a different visual.
Be sure to watch the video to learn what makes these candlesticks look so different … And stay tuned for Bohen’s breakdown on bar charts.
The left side of the bar is the opening price, the right side is the closing price, and the candle’s top and bottom are the high and low of that time frame.
The most popular chart style among traders is the Japanese candlesticks. These are the red and green candlesticks. Want to learn the difference between the colors, how VWAP comes into play, and what a Doji candle is? Bohen’s got you covered.
It may take some time to figure out which charts click and work for you. Put in the repetitions and look at price action over and over again. When it starts making sense, you’ll know which charts suit you best.
And that’s just the first half of this video lesson — don’t miss this!
Discover why volume candles are also red and green, Bohen’s favorite chart time frame, and get a much needed history lesson with the point-and-figure chart.

That video was great, just received the Nison book via Amazon. Do you think it's worthwhile to read the others he has (1st edition etc) or do you think this 2nd edition covers it all?
Another great video! Love the old style charts! I am guilty of not using the candles, but starting today, it's all candles!
Thank you Tim for talking about the different candles.
