It's not inflation they are staying high for. They will continue raising until they pop the real estate bubble. Stock market is irrelevant, inflation is irrelevant. Rates will increase until the housing bubble pops. Fed is looking at long term, if they don't pop it now, later is much worse.
If you can't see the forest through the trees it's pretty clear what's going on. In 2020 central banks pumped in massive amounts of printed money and bailed out wall street. Now that they have repositioned, loaded everyone up with record low debt and sold the top to the public it's now time to squeeze markets to stop the inflation that they created. The real question we should be asking is why we have these central banks. The best thing that can happen is a market wipe out and the public loses faith in this central banking cartel. Then we need the political will to change the central banks that also own our government. As the famous saying goes. "Give me control of the currency of a nation and I care not who creates the laws"
U-turn will come when its least expected, probably sooner than later.
