Tesla Inc. TSLA is set to open some of its U.S. Supercharger network stations to EVs made by other manufacturers. I think this is a brilliant move for Tesla and in this video I will explain my theory in this respect.

This is tom nash and i'm sure as a kid you heard the story story about the three little pigs right each pig built his own house to protect against the bad wolf. But you know the first pig was lazy so he literally built his house out of straw. I mean that's pretty much gm in the ford. The second pig.
He actually built his house out of sticks. That's vw and the third pig. He built it out of brick and eventually he bailed out the other two pigs and he saved them from the big bad wolf. Because the wolf couldn't penetrate the bricks now in this moral of the story.
Tesla is basically the company that built that brick house and all the other auto manufacturers are literally these lazy pigs. Now look you can talk all you want about tesla having not enough superchargers. There's a lot of weight. There's definitely a strain on the system.
But nobody else comes close to tesla not in the auto industry. Not in the independent providers industry. They have 35 000. Charges around the world a lot of it in the us.
But however now. According to a wall street journal. Article. Tesla is actually going to open up the supercharger network to everybody else and on the surface this might sound like a horrible idea because if you talk to any tesla.
Purchaser. They'll tell you that one of the main considerations was the supercharger network access. That's a mode for tesla. Giving.
It up is a bad idea right wrong check it out it's a brilliant move. And i'll explain why by doing. That tesla achieves a. Few things that are pretty much just unbelievably.
Smart. Number. One. It's going to have seven and a half billion dollars of access of money to build more of these.
Stations because there's about 75. Billion of government money that's going to go to states to allow them to fund the building of these infrastructure. Stations. And tesla is going to get a big chunk of it they have the expertise.
The know how and the ability to build most of it so i'm assuming a huge chunk out of those seven and a half billion dollars of funding will go to tesla and yes. I know some people will you know be but heard that the government is paying for tesla's infrastructure. Whatever get over that it's just smart business now beyond. The government funding.
Which is brilliant in itself look at it this way right. Now tesla's main revenue is cars 85 percent come from car sales and that's okay. But in the future. As fsd full set of driving.
Actually launches. There's going to be software as a service income with 80 gross margin. That's going to be about 200 bucks per month per client. That's already starting to get interesting now there's another tier.
All these drivers who will be actually charging at the tesla supercharger network will generate revenue for tesla. So tesla is literally becoming not just an auto producer. But an infrastructure producer for the entire ev industry in america not to mention point number two once this infrastructure. Which is already light years ahead of the competition becomes even greater the gap is going to be so wide. No auto manufacturer especially in their current state. Look at ford gm with their debt is not going to venture into building a massive infrastructure at tesla. Because it took them years and years to do it. The gap is pretty much too wide.
They'll have to consider the fact that tesla is now the supplier for everybody. Else. Now tesla basically is literally selling them ink. While they hold the printer.
That's just genius. Now the third part is just think about it this way as much as tesla. Does not have a demand problem. Now it might have in the future and having these supercharger network stations open to everybody else is literally free advertising for ev owners about tesla not to mention point number four massive access to data all of these drivers.
Which will be charging at tesla supercharges are going to provide even more data to the company that already has vast amounts of data much bigger than anybody else now there are challenges with this and i agree now a lot of you may think that it's going to cannibalize the demand for teslas right if i can buy whatever like a gm electric car god knows why would i but and i can access the supercharger network. I don't need a tesla wrong because what tesla can do literally in a second is just decide they charge 10 more from clients that are not tesla right if they're servicing. A non tesla client. They're charging 10 15.
20. More. It's still basically a no brainer for the user to use that because it's so easy. It's like a gas station.
They're everywhere. But as a tesla client you get it for 20 less. So that advertising. Now becomes way more attractive so in fact by doing this little simple pricing methodology kind of price depreciation.
You solve this problem. Now. There's a lot of other stuff with this and i think beyond everything i just mentioned the main part. I think might be the data so much data about charging patterns consumption behavior cars.
The competitors. You think that tesla won't learn so much from this and will utilize this data to improve their products and services. So think about this way just as it stands is operating on margins of about you know 20 mid 20s percent right sas from full self driving 80 gross margin from this i'm assuming probably in the you know 60s 70s i don't know how it's going to look like as far as them charging. But the market.
I think is going to be insane not to mention the fact more demand to add on as tesla actually ramps up and sells 2 3. Million cars a year. It's a no brainer and another brilliant move by illinois tesla. Now i know a lot of you want to know about elon and where he put his pp just to let you know there's a wall street journal.
Article. That says that ellen put his pp in sergey brin's wife. The google founder and now they got divorced elon says. It's complete that he's friendly with the guy he just attended the party with him a few days ago. And he you know met the the woman a couple times. Obviously there's no romance and you know it sounds to me that elon is more right about it. But even if he is and and that actually happened who cares i mean it's his personal life. It's two adults you know putting their pps in the same place who cares it's not news to me at least.
But if you want to go real about it read about it i'm not going to cover this on my channel. Because i honestly don't give a damn see you next video.
TESLA = legit, but we going to keep talkin bout them as if MOST of america can afford them when they CANT? that might be why they buy elsewhere hmmmmm
True bro…but this is known since long time
It's not just EV Charging Infrastructure in the USA. It's Worldwide!!!
So is Tom Nash a Tesla cultist?
If government funds are used to build out charging networks they're not going to allow them to charge non Tesla clients more
Make EV chargers UNIVERSAL and more will adopt the technology. Current gas stations use standardized fuel delivery systems. Make it simple and people will flock to electric vehicles..
Definitely see Tesla charging extra for non Tesla owners in the future!
Fantastic!
Beyond Fords debt, I think they are doing a good job
I agree with @Jose Villa that competition is getting much better. Mercedes, BMW, Audi and VW are offering EVs at same prices as Tesla with similar driving range but with the superb Germany quality and engineering that is superior to Tesla. Most of the Tesla competition talk is focused on GM and Ford, but seem to forget that even in ICE vehicles German, Japanese and Korean competitors have long surpassed GM & Ford decades ago. So Tesla’s real competition are these non US manufactures. Sure Tesla is ahead in EV battery and motors but these competitors are also way ahead of Tesla in scaling high quality manufacturing. If Tesla can’t seem to get its quality right today when they are producing less than 2 million cars per year, how will they manage to improve or even maintain their quality when they ramp up production to several million at the rate they are saying? Just like Tesla has a lead on EV technology, these non US car manufacturers have a lead on decades of experience producing quality cars at scale. Tesla can improve it’s quality with time and experience just like competitors will improve their EV technology. So let’s not underestimate Tesla’s competition by simply referring to GM & Ford like a broken record. I’m also interest to hear more thoughts on how competitive is Tesla against recent offerings from non-US car manufactures.
Who cares about the gossip as long as Tesla makes me money I don’t care what the CEO does in private…I don’t trust media anyway.
In large parts of Europa this is allready a fact.
I think in the original story of the Three Little Pigs, the first two pigs get eaten.
$76,000 earned in 2weeks😌
The EV rampage is over. It’s going to be a race to the bottom on price from here on out just like every other maturing market
Tesla should install “MacDonald’s” 30+ foot style signs (the golden m gates) for their superchargers to increase awareness and make it easier to find them (like gas stations near highways). This would be an amazing marketing hit.
Good policy his personal life let him be
I still want to be his pimp his DNA every girl is after ? What woman wouldn’t like a brilliant child
Great analogy Mr Nash you watered it down so even us little people could understand.
Good point. But texas already announced they stupidly are paying too much of another charging network
Let me know when they have battery swaps, thanks.
Tesla won't charge others more, they will charge Tesla's less.😜
I will for sure not be buying a Tesla again if I can get a german EV instead and use the Tesla charger network. I currently own a 2022 model 3, which is a fairly crappy product. I simply do not understand the hype around Tesla cars… in Europe where I live the Tesla chargers are already open for other car brands
When does Tesla get broken up like Standard Oil?
i hope tesla will only allow cars with the same charge port located as a tesla to avoid haphazard parking.
I have watched many videos talking about this and I may be wrong, but I think that you are looking way to deep on this one. Elon has always been clear on Tesla's mission, to accelerate the transition to sustainable energy, so it does not matter if opening the superchargers is a good move business wise, it only matters that it will help the world transition to EVs faster. Of course they will still use the best strategy possible to maximize revenues and minimize the downside.
Ford GM Volkswagen and Toyota are done they're late to the party in the party is already over
🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷
Once Tesla accepts government money, their chargers become utilities and charging non-Tesla customers more will not be allowed.
As a Tesla stock holder I love this and agree with all your points except how much data you think this will get. Most people don't use superchargers that often. I have two Teslas and in 2021 I've used the SC 7 times between both vehicles.
Now as someone who's never going to buy another ICE vehicle ever again, I'm very happy. I can finally purchase a better EV without the downside of having to use a public charger, and wondering if the stall will work, when going on a road trip.
The demand for Teslas automatically goes down because the main advantage was the super charger, and now you don't have to deal with the downsides of the Tesla vehicles just to have the upside of the superchargers. At the same time demand for other EVs goes up just because the Tesla network is now public. 10-20% increase for electricity over what Tesla owners pay is nothing and something that I would be more than willing to pay, just to be able to drive a quality car and use the best charging network.
Lastly, they should just give Tesla the full $7.5B and let them create a public charging network, obviously the other dozen of companies have no idea what they're doing.
Tesla isn't the only one building chargers. Mass adoption will result in existing gas stations owned by Shell, Chevrons of the world to convert existing infrastructure into electric charging stations. They hold the land in key intersections and highways. This is already happening in many countries. This thesis on Tesla monopoly doesn't hold weight.
I'm sure the government will find some way to keep Tesla from upcharging to non-tesla EV using the supercharger network.
Actually I am not upset about US government spending on TESLA, I am upset about the government WASTING $$ with F & GM; whose EV fleets will never get off the ground.
There's no way Tesla will cause GM's demise because last year President Joe Biden said publicly that Mary Barra and GM are LEADING the EV revolution. Everyone knows that Joe Biden is always correct plus Joe would never lie so what you say, Tom, can not be true.
Would love to hear your thoughts on the "cons" just the same.
“I don’t give a damn. See you in the next video” what a way to end it lol 😂 that’s why Tom’s the best
