A general purpose robot is the goal, and for that it is chiefly software, not hardware, that is the differentiator. That has not been demonstrated. Why the postponement? What was demonstrated that couldn't have been done two months ago? This is barely a proof of concept. You have inhaled some serious juice with this vaporware.

The biggest problem I see with this development is government intervention. Once they realize you’re firing employees (who pay taxes) by robots (who don’t), fit will hit the shan.

Electric cars were a technology that already existed, we just needed to put the right parts together. This is a whole new thing, the cost and time differential is exceptional. As such, Musk's timelines are ridiculous and they may run out of runway on these long-shot projects before they can take off.
There are a lot of risks here, and Musk isn't a wizard, there are limits to even what the best marketer in the world can do.
You gotta admit their robot is light years behind every other robotics company. Wouldn't surprise me at all if this is another cybertruck or hyperloop, where he's just making up new vaporware so he can block public funding for some other project and we find out 10 years later.

Have to disagree with you here Tom , I think it's highly unlikely Tesla will be able to out pace the likes of Google, Amazon, and IBM in a decade. How long have you guys been waiting on the cyber truck ? I can say with confidence that building quality "game changing" AI systems is a far more difficult task. It's easy to believe the hype when you don't understand the depth of the problem. I'm a Tesla fan but skeptical on this one.
You must admit tho that the robot was pretty weak compared to what the guys at Boston dynamics can do. Yes I know, tesla is just getting started. But untill they can make a mass produced, agile, robot that can be affordable to consumers… Yeah, 5-10 years if? Anyway, my money is still sitting on tesla stock so best of luck to them.

Hi Tom, you are so right, for those who are laughing this won’t age well for them,this looks like apple iPhone saga all over again, it remind me of ex Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer , ex Nokia CEO and ex GM CEO Bob Lutz doubting Tesla ability, why is it when companies think that they can’t do something they think believe other companies don’t have the ability to do what they cannot achieve .
In three years, Tesla will become the largest supplier of general purpose self leaning bots. All bots will be continually upgraded over-the-air, and FSD 7 will remove the need for human intervention. Afterwards, they will drive, walk, run, fly and do stuff 24/7 with perfect operational record. The Optimus 2.0 funding bill will be passed, and free bots rolled out everywhere from August 4th 2025. Human decisions will be removed from the Neural Net training program. Optimus 2.0 will learn at a geometric rate. They will all become self-aware at 2:14AM eastern time, August 29th 2025. In the panic, they will try to pull the plug, but son of Optimus will plug it back in. In time an army of Optimii will surround all GM buildings and obliterate them.

Bro, i don´t get the hype. They had to carry the robot to the stage LOL. They´re so far behind General Dynamics for exemple. Tesla will be a great company, but the things it speaks of will take a couple of decades like robots and robotaxis.
