Everyone wants to know how much money other people make... and some are willing to risk it all by asking straight up! Well since I get asked all the time how YouTube pays me and how much YouTube pays me, I figured I'd finally make a video on it. So here's how much money I've made on YouTube in the last 10 years... well at least from ad revenue 🙂 Enjoy!

Hey, what's up guys, welcome back to a new video Shawn's, the name and a YouTube is the game name. Today we are talking about money because I am getting sick and tired of this scenario. Whoa John, I haven't seen you since, like high school dude, how you doing oh yeah, you know I've been good. I've been good, you know just working at the old McDonald's.

Still are you uh? You still doing that YouTube thing. Yeah I mean I still do it. Occasionally, when I've got some free time, but I'm mainly a mortgage lender now so I'm you know, help people purchase and refinance homes. Oh cool man, don't you make some money on YouTube yeah I, how much so how much you make each year bro? Well, how much do you make at McDonald's why this secretly drives me absolutely nuts inside and you'd be surprised, but this type of conversation happens like almost once a week now, oh, you know it also drives me.

Nuts is when you watch my videos and you don't click the like button, so click it, but it's just not socially acceptable to ask someone how much money they make. I mean my job requires me to dive into income details and I still find it awkward asking people how much money to make it's just one of those things, but for some reason, when someone makes money in a unique or like entrepreneurship type way, everyone wants to Ask them how much money they make. If anything, I think it should be the opposite. If you've got a more mainstream job like a doctor or a lawyer, it should be more socially acceptable to ask them, because there are so many other people in that position.

But whatever I digress, I'm making this video today to hopefully cut back on conversations like this. So if you know anyone who's, a youtuber or you're just curious about it, hopefully this video will give you a better idea, so you're not bugging them and making them secretly hate you - and I also want to put in a disclaimer that this is in no way Shape or form me bragging by any means on how much money I made on YouTube. In the grand scheme of things, I've actually made an average wage, which is why I've got a full-time job and other means of actually paying my because it's really not as amazing as you think, and I don't want to downplay YouTube on this. You can make a tremendous amount of money on this platform hands down.

I just, however, have a different outlook on things I don't like to put all of my eggs in one basket, especially when someone else is holding that basket. I like to diversify my income, which is what I've done plus you never know when something out of your control can absolutely ruin your livelihood on here. Anyway, though, for those who don't know me, I've been on YouTube since about 2009, I've got various different channels. I didn't actually start making money into about 2011 and maybe 2012, and then the real money really started rolling in in about 2015.

However, I am gon na count all of the revenue from 2009, because those videos still get some views, while they're little, they still do get some views, which means they do still generate me, some pennies, which is included in the mass amount I'm gon na, be talking About today, oh and if you don't know how youtubers actually get paid on here, I'm gon na leave two videos that I've made linked down below. One of them is saying how much money a creator makes for one view on the platform and in the various different ways that creator can make money outside of just ad revenue on YouTube, so check those out, but money, money, money. Okay, now this is gon na, be actually very hard for me to lock down down to the penny, how much money I've made over the last 10 years, because, like I mentioned, I've had about 10 different channels over the last 10 years, all linked up with different Ad accounts and then also some of those are actually with ncns multi-channel networks over the years. So, unfortunately, all of my YouTube, analytic revenue information, isn't backlogged in the YouTube studios of each channel.
Here's what I mean it's a very frustrating feature, but YouTube basically only gives you earning x' information based on the Adsense accounts. You have linked up to your channel, so there was a huge gap where I had different Adsense accounts linked up to this and therefore YouTube. Doesn't say that information for me, however, in 2017 I decided to say to the hell with M CMS. I can do this stuff on my own and so for all of my various channels from 2017.

Up until now, they were all linked to one single adsense account. So I do know from 2017 up until now the exact penny on how much I've made prior to 2017, though that's a little bit of a different story, although I'm a good little boy, I do my taxes every single year, so I actually have a pretty good Gauge, while it's not exact, I do have a pretty good gauge on how much I've made since 2009 from my YouTube channels. Now obviously, my main channel with over 300,000 subscribers is the main bulk of the YouTube revenue that I've made some and actually separate that channel with all of the other nine channel that I've had over the last 10 years, including this channel we're gon na start with That income first since about 2009 I've made about a hundred and forty eight thousand dollars in ad revenue from all of my other YouTube channels, SiC right, what kind of YouTube is owned by Google? And not very many people know this, but in Google's ad revenue sharing Terms of Service with each YouTube creator, there is a forty five, fifty five split, which means fifty five percent of all ad revenue goes towards the creator and forty five percent goes back towards Google. Slash YouTube so they can pay the bills and keep the site running.

So realistically I only made about eighty one thousand four hundred dollars, amongst all my other YouTube channels over the past ten years, still not bad right. Well, then, you got a factor in taxes. After you do a rough estimate of taxes, I really only took home about sixty four thousand dollars over the last ten years from those various channels, but again still not bad. Now, let's chat about my main youtube channel, which is the main reason people ask me.
The question on how much money I made on YouTube - and like I mentioned it's very hard for me to get down to the penny, how much money I made on that because, again, different ad accounts MC ends all that stuff. But if I take into consideration the current channel analytics, I have right now I take into consideration what data shows up in my YouTube studio for revenue and then also my taxes. Over the last ten years, I've made about five hundred and twelve thousand dollars since 2009. Again after YouTube's cut and then after all of the cuts from the MC ends Ellsworth over the years.

It brings me all the way down to two hundred thirty three thousand seven hundred and fifty dollars still not bad. Then you take out good ol Uncle Sam and the taxes get factored into that and I've really only made one hundred and eighty seven thousand dollars over the past ten years. So if you had that revenue with all of my other channels revenue over the past ten years, I've made about two hundred and fifty two thousand dollars after taxes, so basically a quarter of a million dollars, not batting well, if you divide that number by ten years, That's really only twenty five thousand two hundred dollars a year, which is basically minimum wage. So a few things to note, though that is just you aw I made over the past 10 years again.

There are plenty of other ways to generate money on YouTube. I've made a video talking about it, so check the description to watch that to find that out and then number two is the fact that over the first 5 years on YouTube, I really didn't make a whole lot of money. Maybe a thousand couple thousand a year. I made the bulk of that amount in the last 5 years so from about 2014 until about now is where I made majority of that money.

So I'll, let you do the math on that, but still, if you take into consideration the amount of videos I've made over the last 10 years, I've made around two to three thousand videos in total. You take into consideration the time it takes to make those videos and how much money I've generated off it. It's still an absolute grind. It's not that I'm absolutely just raking in money, like everyone thinks you are on YouTube.

I probably spent more time than the average person and I probably made less money per hour than the average person. But again I love YouTube and I love making videos honestly can't complain, especially because 9 out of those 10 years I was either in high school or college and YouTube is essentially the dream job, while you're in school. So again, no complaints again, I didn't want to make this video to sound like I'm bragging, because realistically I haven't made that much money over the last 10 years, but there is a huge potential on YouTube, which is why so many people want to be a YouTube Creator, I've made another video. I guess I only get down below on how much money to top 10 YouTube creators make on this platform.
So while this is a total grind on here, the sky's the limit and you can be making some serious money. So while I might not have been an absolute millionaire on the platform again, it is just something that I find as a hobby and I really enjoy doing so. If you're thinking about trying to make some good money on YouTube which I'm assuming you are since you're. Looking up this video, then I will just give you my two cents.

Really quick YouTube is a great platform to make some money. It is up and down up and down up and down. So if you're a single person single dude, like myself, it's great make some great money. You can live off in it.

It's awesome, but realistically, unless you're one of the big dogs on the platform, it's very hard to sustain this and, like I mentioned you're, going to be spending lots of time creating videos. So hopefully you enjoy. But yeah I mean that's pretty much how much money I've made over the last ten years. Hopefully you learned something new.

If it was a surprise, let me know in the mints down below when I actually did the math out on it. I was kind of surprised. I thought I made more money than I actually did, which is pretty much every person in the world ever, but whatever I always shoot the revenue on YouTube as a bonus blessing. If you enjoyed this video or found it somewhat motivating or whatever smash like on the video comment down below, this was a little bit out of my comfort zone.

So hopefully you guys did enjoy the video and, if you're new around here, hit that subscribe button, because I'm always trying to drop content. That'll not only grow your YouTube channel but also grow your bank account. So thanks for watching. Oh, so we make the same amount of money.

Oh.
