All right everyone back with another multi-part video series here today. We're going to be talking about Bear Markets, the history of them, and how to trade in them. Listen, if there's one takeaway, write this down. Okay, Bear Market from a day trading perspective are incredible.

Okay I Think that one thing that really, uh, aggravates me like a better term is when people are like oh bear Market Bear Markets are watching the TV avoid the TV box my friend come to YouTube Come to the stocks trade Channel like subscribe, ring the bell. Come here. Shut off that TV Anyway, but people are like scared away and I tell you when I think of like when I got started. Okay I got started 2006 2007.

and really found massive success early on into 2008 2009. And remember, that was the financial crisis. Everyone's talking about stock market crash. Stock Market Crash.

Meanwhile, some of the wildest craziest volatility. It really got me over that hump to profitability back then. And if I would have avoided that because of what the media was saying or what your uncle was saying or whatever day trading is incredible in Bear markets. now.

swing trading and investing, not so much. But anyway, let's talk a little bit about history. So since 1928, the S P 500 has experienced 26 different Bear markets. So you know what is that about 100 years? So what is that? Roughly every four years, um, a lot of people think it's much more unique.

I Mean they think of the stock market crash in the 20s Everyone remembers like 1987. You know the the big uh, you know black October Everyone remembers me included. You know, 2008, 2009. So there's those two or three or four that are are very memorable.

but people don't realize how common it is. I think and that's where I think Again, people get scared away because they think a bear Market is like some Black Swan scenario. No, it's basically every four years it happens. It's just the reality of it.

Okay, now what is the definition of a bear? Market You'll hear that a lot. What is it bear? Market is where the overall Market declines 20 or more over a two month period. Okay, so basically say June and July overall markets drop 20 or more, you're in a bear. Market Okay, then um, once we come out of that, then you've got other parameters that then determine that that exit, but that 20 or more move in a two-month period.

Consecutive two-month period denotes a bear market. So um, and hey, the biggest one March 2000, 2001 um another famous bear Market that I did kind of forget to mention. that would have been the tech bubble. Um I almost don't remember that one as much.

that was actually back when I started my business. Started my business in 1996 97 and like I I Also I always look back and never traded the.com boom and it's just simply because we were. We were one of those businesses where fully bootstrapped working a hundred hours a week. Okay, that was back in my early 20s.

I mean everyone says 100 hours a week I was working 100 hours a week I Almost barely remember those years or that period. but remember that was the.com bust and 36 and the uh Market Uh bear Market lasted a 546 days into 911. you know, 911 kind of was a catalyst to turn that around. And then 2007 2008.
Remember I Got started trading in late 2006, traded all the way through that area. Um, that was 52 drop. Scary times that was Bear Stearns Layman Brothers General Motors went bankrupt Chrysler went Bank up if you remember those times. Um, very scary times to think back about.

even like small Banks If you remember that 2007 2008 uh period. just like your local bank, the Feds would come in on Friday night, close that thing down. uh, liquidate everything. come Monday morning you know your uh First Mutual Bank of Main Street is just like gone.

they'd roll it into Wells Fargo or roll it into Chase Very scary times. But again, I remember those days incredible trading opportunities in the small cap space because what happens is remember actually I'll I'll skip ahead on this point then February 20 to March 2020. that was the covid bear Market Only 33 day or only 33 day period. but a 34 drop.

So those have been the biggest, uh, recent Bear markets. Now back to the trading opportunities. Why? But you know? I'm sure. Probably you're probably asked a question.

why are Bear Markets so great for day trading? Well listen, people are always going to be looking to make money. Okay people are. the stock market has been around for hundreds of years. not the U.S stock market obviously.

But markets. Okay, okay, you go back to thousands of years trading a goat for a bushel of corn. Okay, markets always exist You think of like Tulip Mania back in the 14th or 1500s, you know. Uh, look at cryptocurrencies today.

Okay, people are always going to look to speculate, always looked in trade, always looking to make money. And what happens and why Bear Markets are so great for day trading is people pull out of the real companies because they're afraid that it's going to be General Motors and go bankrupt. It's going to be Layman brothers and go out of business and they flow in to the short-term speculative type trading. So uh, in part two, we're gonna break down what chart patterns, what methodologies to trade in.

Uh, Bear Markets but wanted to break down the history and also again, please please please. even if you don't watch part two which I don't know why you wouldn't especially if you like And subscribe and ring that Bell But if, even if you don't watch part two, don't be scared of Bear Markets again. there's the best time to day trade. I'm always shocked by how many people do not realize that little bit of information.
